The comparative neglect of Westinghouse is consisten with other recent historians' works, although it marks intriguing departure from……”

C,reflective of modern neglect of the view of previous generations

However, Hughes virtually
ignores Edison’s famous contemporary
and notorious adversary in
(10) the field of electric light and power,
George Westinghouse. This comparative
neglect of Westinghouse is
consistent with other recent historians’
works,
although it marks an intriguing
(15) departure from the prevailing view
during the inventors’ lifetimes (and for
decades afterward) of Edison and
Westinghouse as the two “pioneer
innovators” of the electrical industry.
Q7:
The author of the passage implies that the shift away from the views of Westinghouse’s
contemporaries should be regarded as
A. a natural outgrowth of the recent revival of interest in Edison
B. a result of scholarship based on previously unknown documents
C. reflective of modern neglect of the views of previous generations
D. inevitable, given the changing trends in historical interpretations
E. surprising, given the stature that Westinghouse once had

E不对,选C.

1)先看the views of Westinghouse’s contemporaries 是什么: E和W是two "pioneer innovators"(也就是说E和W时代的人对他们俩是正评价).

the prevailing view
during the inventors’ lifetimes (and for
decades afterward) of Edison and
Westinghouse as the two “pioneer
innovators”
of the electrical industry.

2)再看the shift away from the views of Westinghouse’s contemporaries又指什么:shift与原文departure对应,指neglect of Westinghouse.

2.问题:the author implies that the shift(i.e.neglect of W) should be regarded as....

看C如何与原文对应: reflective of(对应mark) modern(对应recent) neglect of the views of previous generations (对应views during the inovators'lifetimes...as the two "pioneer invovators").

although it(指neglect)marks an intriguing
(15) departure from the prevailing view
during the inventors’ lifetimes (and for
decades afterward) of Edison and
Westinghouse as the two “pioneer
innovators” of the electrical industry.

E) surprising, given the stature that Westinghouse once had

surprising 可以勉强和intriguing对应,但是后面半句话如何解释?the shift give the sataure that westinghouse once had?
