As a part of beneficial to citizens, the artists like musicians, painters and filmmakers devoted themselves to the art to produce appreciate masterpieces. Many famous artists achieve great success in their work, however, it cannot be denied that there is still some artists have trouble with living. So whether government should provide financial support to artists is depended on various situations, I would like to illustrate in following reasons.
  First of all, some celebrates artists should not be supported by government finance. Including some outstanding filmmakers, whose movie have been known to numerous people and earned great deal of ticket money; and some painters, whose work have been regard as first-level job among the nation. These artists can gain a lot through art work, and in contradiction of receiving financial support, they should donate some money to art institutions or agencies to support the art business of some young artists. Thus would inspire some young man to contribute to art and improve the atmosphere of art in society.
  However, artists who attain great achievement are just few people. Most of the artists, especially some young people, are struggling between their art dreams and living. As we all know art relative materials is pretty expensive. For instance, a painter needs to buy pigment, drawing paper, easel, different size of brushes. However, these materials are required to change for a period. Despite earned money from selling painting, only the cost of materials is hard afford for a painter. Therefore, I believe government should provide financial supports for those artists who are young of art fields or hard to earn money from their art works. With the supporting, they can continue to chase dreams and not worry about making living.
  Besides, if some artists work with the public welfare, such as designing posts about environment protecting or make films related to advocate low carbon transportation, they should be supported by government with finance. I think it is the duty of government to improve public welfare and inspire citizens with spirit of harmonious society. So, the artists working with public welfare related work also should be supported by government finance.
  Cultural life is essential for people, and art works enrich our cultural life. Therefore, some young or not famous artists and public welfare related artists should be supported by government finance. And it is time for many famous artist to feedback to society by donating to art business.

The styles of writing can represent author’s hobbies and characters. Similarly, the readers prefer to choose books or movies which match their perspective of values and attitude. Therefore, I agree with the opinion that one can learn another person from books and movies the person likes, and I will demonstrate my thoughts as followed.
  First of all, through what levels of the book or movie can basically determine one person’s education level. A research which is posted on the movie journal said, after a long term research, most people who choose to watch documentary are usually received high education like collage or above. Besides, I found books that my mom, who is graduated from junior college education, chooses to read are quite different from the books my professor recommended. My mother prefers to read some novels and my professor prefers some philosophy and history books.
  What’s more, characteristic can be seen from what kind of book or movie a person enjoyed. People who are outgoing and optimistic tend to watch comedy movies, people who are quiet and introvert prefer romantic movie, so as for books. Readers of biography tend to be steady and mature, readers of romantic fiction usually are sentimental, readers of detective fiction most are thinking critical and strong logical.
  Admittedly, it cannot be denied that some people try to enjoy books or movies which are opposite to their hobbies and characteristic. Curiosity is an instinctive feature of human beings. Therefore, people would choose sorts of movies or books they don’t familiar with. Quiet sweet girl may enjoy criminal movie, steady gentlemen might like comic books. In this situation, we cannot tell a person from his or her inclination of books and movies.
  In conclusion, most audience would like to choose the book or movie which match with their opinions or reflect their attitude toward the story described in books or movies. Thus, in most cases, we can tell a person, like characteristics, interests or education level, by the books or movies he or she preferred.

9.14 DO you agree or disagree with the following statement?
The rapid growth of cities in today's world is a mostly positive development for the society.
  When stepped into 21st century, people all over the world experienced tremendous changes in all aspect of life and work. Especially the prevalent of computer and internet, the ways of normal life have utterly change. The great increasing of economy and technology brings the rapid growth of cities. However, whether this process is positive, different people may have different ideas. I believe that rapid growth of cities is positive for the development of society in some extent, but it has more defects for the development of human being.
  The most severe situation is that the rapid growth of cities uniforms all nations and culture, eliminated the variation of perspective countries or cultures. It is a common scene in center of many cities, crowed people with fast walking, traffic jam with car drivers’ long time blocking, advertisement plant with shining 24 hours. No matter you go to New York, Tokyo or Beijing, they are all the same. Maybe it is proved to be best form of developing. People who live in cities are forced to adapt with this determined form, setting aside the special hobbies or ways of life. So if the cities continue to expend in such rapid speed, the whole world may be the same everywhere. Thus we cannot appreciate various culture and local civilization which are most valuable treasures of human.
  Admittedly, cities can provide people with a great deal of convenience, opportunities and recreation, basically you can find everything you want in a big city. Appealing by these, young people live in the countryside would rush into cities, abandoned the farm and families. A phenomenon revealed by a famous editorial shows that over 90 percent adult in countryside, especially in south of China have go to big cities to hunting job with poor salaries. As a result, their parents and children are left in small town with laborious farm working. This phenomenon suggests an instability life both for the children’s healthy growing and the olds’ peaceful in old age.
   What has already troubled people nowadays about the growing cities is environment. Mansions and buildings take place of lawns, roads and streets occupy the trees’ land, discharging of polluted air from cars threaten people’s health, cars running on the roads all day interfere with good sleeping. Because that people in the cities have to face with all the troublesome things, they may wonder, does the citilization really benefit for citizens and society?
  According to the reasons I present in the essay, I believe the rapid growth of cities is not all good for development of society. It cannot be denied that citilization do bring lots of beneficial like growing economy, convenient high-tech life, various substantial, but people may miss the old days that they lived freely and unique, farmed together with family, blue sky and fresh air.

It's more important for the government to build art museums and music performance center than to build recreational devices (such as swimming pool, playgrounds)
One of the most important duties of government is to meet needs of citizens, in order to improve the citizens’ satisfaction and confidence toward government and society. Constructing some public welfare sites like museums or garden can provide people more sorts of entertainments to enjoy city life. Someone hold the opinion that building more art museums and music performance is more important. However, I keep the opposite opinion that building recreational devices can be more beneficial with the several reasons stated in following paragraphs.
Admittedly, art museums and music performance center are able to cultivate people with sense of art and feeling of music. Thus, the spirit of citizen can be enriched and satisfied through participating art or music related activities. People who prefer to visit art museum usually have better taste about aesthetic. Similarly, people who enjoy music play are more graceful and elegant. However, the truce is that there are not so much people who are interested in ancient culture and classical music. Therefore, building art museums or music performance center cannot benefit too much citizens. These sites seems little private compared with recreation devices.
First of all, building recreation devices can benefit more people. Recreation devices, such as playground or garden, mostly build in areas near to communities. Thus, people can take fully use of these devices conveniently. Children could play basketball with classmates in Saturday morning, adults may prefer to have a walk after dinner in garden, olds can take morning exercise in playground. What’s more, these recreation sites give families a chance to get together and play games in leisure time. As known to all, a rapid growth of city deprives lands which should be lawn or garden. People have to stay at home faced with computers. Good is many recreation devices appeal people to get together and paly outside again. So building recreation device is more important to art related buildings.
Besides, recreation devices can help people with fit keeping and body building. If you visit art museums, you just need to take few steps, and you barely sit for hours when watch music performance. Speedy life make many people are in sub-health. Therefore, taking more activities is better off. Swimming in the swimming pool can reduce fat, running in playground can strengthen heart, play basketball or soccer can improve body integrate health condition. Only have a good body can one enjoy a happy life. Thus, recreation devices are more needed by citizens compared with art museum or music center.
Music and art indeed will enhance spirit life of people, but the body and physical health are prerequisite. Since people can benefit more from recreation devices, we can come to the conclusion that building recreational devices are more important than art museums and music performance center.

Agree/disagree: The purpose of television should be all educative, not entertaining.
  The boosting of technology brings us many feasible facilities, such as computer, television, smart phone. With the capacity of multi-function, it is hard to tell the purpose of using one device. White collars can use computer to finish office related jobs as well as playing network games for children. It is the same reason for television. Sometimes we want to entertain ourselves, other moment we may prefer to acquire knowledge. Therefore, in my opinion, the purpose of television should be various for different range of people.
  First of all, as a most common electronic product, television is prevalent in nearly every family. In the family which the owner is old people, the main purpose of television is entertaining, since there is no necessity for elders to learn any novel thing. People in an old age who are already retired from work, the core life is enjoying the rest of life with families. Because of easily operate and multiple choices of channels, television is most popular for elders. They enjoy comedy movies and classic music showing on the television with a cup of coffee and a case of cookies, this is all the elders would do with television. Thus, for old people, the purpose of television is entertaining.
  However, for adults who work in office or factories, the meaning of television is not just an entertainment. As known to all, white collars have to work eight hours a day, they have limited time to be contributed to other use for one’s own sake. What if a person wants to enhance his or her ability by attending class with such few time? The television teaching is a good choice. After buying an educative channel, you can learn many new things to recharge yourself in Sunday afternoon in your home, without the tiredness and time spending on the way to attending class. Of course, entertainment is inevitable. If the Sunday is the studying day, well, the week days after work is relaxing day by watching television. With so many channels to choose, it is hard for you to find no attractive problems. So, the purpose of television for working people is both educative and entertaining.
However, student who is in the critical time of exam or quiz should use every second to study, including watching television. Take me as an instance. When I was in high school, there was a big television in our classroom. However, it is a pity that we were not allowed to open the tv, only the teachers have the right. The teacher would use the TV as assistant facility of teaching, showing us powerpoint and some small videos related to course. We were allowed to watch the TV program in 7 pm every day, at that time, nearly every channel in China broadcasted the same news program, and we were force to learn the content in that news program. The similar case happed on my cousin, his mother force him to watch educative channel every day. So, for student who is in significant importance of exam, the only use of tv is education.
As we can see, the function of television is various for different people. For elders it is entertaining, for students it is educative. And some working people have both the requirements.

In the reading passage and listening material, how to control cane toad, an introduced animal to austrilia is discussed. The reading passage suggests three possibal ways to control the population of cane toad. However, the professor in the listening material disagrees with them. She think they are not eco-friendly.
Firstly, the reading passage proposes to build a national fence, they have use the fence to prevent the rabbits. But professor asserts that the eggs of toads are flow with the stream, the fence can not stop the water from side to side. The young toad and eggs are able to be carried with water to some place without fence.
Secondly, the reading material claims that toad can be captured and destroyed easily by volunteers. However, professor in the listening passage think this will cause severe trouble because that the untrained volunteers may not able to distinguish toads with native frogs. If they capture and destroy the native frogs would be harm to local environment.
Thirdly, the reading passage says that a disease-causing virus can be used to control the population of cane toads. Professor believes it cannot be adopted. In the Australia the toads may be controlled. However, the toad is a native animal of American. For the toads can transported to areas, the infected toads may carry the virus to American. And this would have significant influence on American eco-system.
In conclusion, according to the professor in the listening passage,all the three way in the reading are not acceptable to be used to control the population of toads
