One of your classmates needs help with some schoolwork. Which solution would you recommend your classmate should do to ask you for help or to find a professional tutor for help?
Have you ever heard about students' complaining for the difficulties in finding someone for solving academic problems? Have you ever seen students waiting out of professors' office in office hours? Have you ever had such a feeling that mist still covers the truth after listening to the explanation from the tutor? If you have experienced those conditions. I am sure that you are standing at my point that students are recommended to ask help from their friends, or me, for assistance if they encounter problems.
To begin with, students may feel nervous when they are talking to tutors or professors because of their superiority. How many times it can be seen on the campus that some students, especially girls, talk to their professors in an extremely low and trembling voice, which does no good for them to search for the answers. Seldom can people ask for the others repetition with patience if it is in an annoying low voice. So do the tutors and professors. Their time is limited, not much can be spent on the same students or answering students’ questions. Apart from that, the trembling voice introduces the impression that the students' lacking confidence in his or hers own work to the professor, which would probably leave a long-lasting negative picture of the students to the professors. Therefore, students cannot receive their expected answers to some extent. Also, a pessimistic impression is produced. Consequently, it is better to ask help from a friend.
Another equally important point is that I know my classmates, which means that I can offer the most efficient method for them to understand and digest certain problem. Professors' goal is the whole class. Accordingly, they tend to use the most predominate thought and approach to give the answer to students, which, sometimes, will not be the best suitable one for the individual's understanding. However, if it is under the condition of asking for solutions from me, I can point different solution in according to different people. As there existing the distinction among students, only by figuring out whether graph or formulation is better can I provide a way which fit certain students better. Besides, this will also lent them power in gaining higher scores. Accordingly, my understanding of the distinction among individuals can produce better help, which is students are suggested turn to.
Admittedly, others may against my view by pointing that I cannot answer all the problems from my classmates and there are mistakes in my answers sometimes. Maybe the individual's knowledge is limited, with the assistance from the whole class. I believe that the question can be solved. Moreover, mistakes can also show in the answers from tutors, which has already been accepted. Consequently, no students can be negatively influenced from my assistance.
In conclusion, students can receive the most suitable approach for their understanding without fear from me. How can they not to choose to turn to me for help when they are troubled by difficulties. |
