A. 没有体现出假设的语气，strikes用了现在时；同样can也不对，it并没有发生，所以只能could。But后面同样需要有情态动词，could/would。

B. it 根据后面主句，应该指part of the planet，但是but后面的it应和前面一致，所以意思不对。It应该指an asteroid。Would使用错误，若在if从句中使用过去时态表虚拟，应改为striked或者were to strike。

C. 正确。虚拟语气表达一种假设，实际并没有发生。

D. do part of the planet tremendous damage表达awkward,易有歧义，是理解成do part of （the planet tremendous damage）；it多余，应和前面can平行。It应指代asteroid, 但结构上却和前面一致，指代了earth，错。

E. 没有体现出假设的语气，strikes用了现在时；but后没有情态动词，表达不出假设的语气。两个it从逻辑上说指代了不同的东西。it could中的it多余，That定语从句中that做句子的主语。

哈哈，我语法基础也很囧，还多亏你的问题，我查了下：

虚拟语气就是用were“在虚拟语气的条件从句中 ，当用到be的过去式时，无论主语是人还是物，也不论人称和数，统一用were，但在口语和其他一些非正式文体中，也可能用到was。”


我一开始觉得A最顺口，后来仔细的看了。觉得考的2点，一是平行，二是逻辑表达（包括时态和虚拟语气）。identified an asteroid 事情发生在过去，所以A的strikes 时态不对，这个应该是最简便的排除法了。平行那个确实比较费脑子。

我想问的是这题的第二个that 为何可以省略？我的想法是that在这个从从句里的成分是主语，而相同主语又可以省略，所以是不是在asteroid题中正确答案c离得that是不是也可以省略？？？
急求nn指正
