我对C的理解是，The first is an assumption that has been used to justify a certain strategy;没有错误，错是错在后面半句the second is a consideration that is used to cast doubt on that assumption。  large profits on the mew product will give competitors a strong incentive to quickly match the mew product’s capabilities. 并没有对technological advances tend to be quickly surpassed  进行怀疑。只是说明了技术进步被surpassed的原因是由large profit造成的。所以说明不应该charge highest price,因为价格越高，竞争者越多，技术就越容易被别人超越。由此得出与第一种strategy即many companies charge the greatest price the market will bear when they have such a product的相反结论the strategy to maximize overall profit from a new product is to charge less than the greatest possible price. 

我认为如果把后面一句话改成the second is a consideration that is used to cast doubt on that strategy（而不是assumption)。此答案就是正确的。
