我想选D

非必要修饰句(non-essential modifier, 即使移除也不会改变句子的meaning 太多的 modifier) 要云逗号隔开, 但是上面的句子假如移除逗号里的东西会变 non sense - Half of the nearly 8 million people live in the US??? 必要修饰句不云逗号隔开， so D is the only one that makes sense (Who are those 8 million people? Those who identify themselves to be P.S.).

identifying themselves as P.S 的逻辑主语是half of。。。有修饰歧义。 我不会选B
Identify sb as的却不如 to be.但GMAC不是说要尽量避免考idiom的么。

没有歧义啊，-ing作定语，修饰half，identify接as

D里面identified不对吧，主句是live，谁给解释下为什么用过去时态

出题者得意思明显表明 这8 million people干什么的，有一半人住在美国。
而不是 有一半干什么的人住美国。 这里用限定性修饰合理。
