1.38s
p: The state passed a law prohibiting smoking in the train in order to protect the health of the commuters.
c: the state should forbid the consumption of alchohol.
2.44s
P: creating false marble is an art because people need to have light hands in order to excel the marble
p: P is a great artist, although he did not have light hands
c: he could also create excellent false marble.
3. 54s
P: people thought they were well informed about the health care, but only 20% of them know exactly what DNA is.
C: So more than 80% people does not know enough medical concept and could not make decisions.

Background:When intoxicated riders get off the train, get in their cars, and drive, the public is exposed to at least as much danger as are nonsmoking rail passengers who are forced to inhale cigarette smoke.
Premise: the state passed a law to protect the health of commuters by prohibiting smoking on the commuter line.
Conclusion: alcohol consumption on commuter trains should be banned.
Assumption: alcohol would cause the public in danger as same as the cigarette smoke.

2. 30"
Background:Creating false marble can excel only by a light hand.
Premise:Picasso was a great artist.
Conclusion:While he did not have a light hand he could have excelled at creating false marble.
Flaw:  Great artist are not different

3. 20"
Background: 90 percent of the population believes itself to be well informed about health care
Premise: only 20 percent knows enough about DNA.
Conclusion: At least 80 percent of the population does not know enough about medical concepts
Flaw:  well informed about health care= knows enough about DNA

4. 25"
Background:The gray squirrel threatens the indigenous population of an endangered owl species.
Premise:Some local officials have advocated setting out poison for the gray squirrels.since the poison would be placed in containers accessible only to squirrels and other rodents.
Conclusion:The poison would pose no threat to the owl population
Flaw: The poison will affect the trees and cause them died eventually.

5. 25"
Background: The total number of meals sold was much higher than it was the year before. the number of meals sold actually decreased substantially at every one of restaurants that was in operation both last year and the year before.
Conclusion:The desirability of our meals to consumers has clearly decreased, given that this group of restaurants.

原文A---B, 后面 NO A---B。

削弱:默认20知道DNA的人就知道make policy decision,所以得出80的结论,但是可能20的人只是know DNA, but not personal choices or decisions.

Day two

NO. 1

The government should enact a bill that would prohibit the sale and consumption of alcohol on commuter trains. Recently, the state, exercising its legitimate authority, passed a law to protect the health of commuters by prohibiting smoking on the commuter line. When intoxicated riders get off the train, get in their cars, and drive, the public is exposed to at least as much danger as are nonsmoking rail passengers who are forced to inhale cigarette smoke.
In arguing that alcohol consumption on commuter trains should be banned, the author relies on

P:有一些地方禁止在train上抽烟→为了protect the health of public。

NO. 2

Creating false marble is an art at which only those with a light hand can excel. Picasso, however, was a great artist, so while he did not have a light hand he could have excelled at creating false marble.
Which one of the following contains a logical error that most closely resembles the logical error contained in the passage?

40’

NO.3

Although 90 percent of the population believes itself to be well informed about health care, only 20 percent knows enough about DNA. So apparently at least 80 percent of the population does not know enough about medical concepts to make well-informed personal medical choices or to make good public policy decisions about health care.
The argument’s reasoning is questionable because the argument fails to demonstrate that

FEIFEI LOGIC 135 NO.1

P:虽然90%的人都认为他们well-informed about their health condition, but only20% know enough about DNA
C:so,at least 80%人没有(does not know enough about)medical concept→make well-informed medical decision
Or to make good public policy decision about health care

NO.4

The gray squirrel, introduced into local woodlands ten years ago, threatens the indigenous population of an endangered owl species, because the squirrels’ habitual stripping of tree bark destroys the trees in which the owls nest. Some local officials have advocated setting out poison for the gray squirrels. The officials argue that this measure, while eliminating the squirrels, would pose no threat to the owl population, since the poison would be placed in containers accessible only to squirrels and other rodents.
Which one of the following, if true, most calls into question the officials’ argument?

45’
P:gray松鼠十年前被引入森林→threaten the endangered in??

FEIFEI LOGIC 135 NO.4

NO.5

Sales manager: Last year the total number of meals sold in our company restaurants was much higher than it was the year before. Obviously consumers find our meals desirable.
Accountant: If you look at individual restaurants, however, you find that the number of meals sold actually decreased substantially at every one of our restaurants that was in operation both last year and the year before. The desirability of our meals to consumers has clearly decreased, given that this group of restaurants---the only ones for which we have sales figures that permit a comparison between last year and the year before---demonstrates a trend toward fewer sales.
If the sales figures cited by the accountant and the sales manager are both accurate, which one of the following must be true?
Which one of the following, if true, most seriously calls into question the accountant’s argument?
FEIFEI LOGIC 135 NO.5-6

75’
