个人认为助动词(动词)同形的情况下当然可以省略,如:
The police found that the house had been broken into and a lot of things stolen。
His father is a doctor,and his mother(is) a nurse.
但我没查到如果助动词不同形,一个是are,一个是is可不可以省,不过倾向还是能省。
主要依据是下面这个例子。
In informal English, the final verb is usually not omitted following a personal pronoun representing the second thing being compared. e.g. I am as tall as he is. She is as good a swimmer as I am.
However, in formal English, the final verb following a personal pronoun representing the second thing being compared is sometimes omitted. e.g. I am as tall as he. She is as good a swimmer as I.
上面is和am是不同形的,但可以省,并不影响意思表达。所以我认为省的可能性大些。
