文章全篇都是在说patening和innovative的关系。后面的例子中的quality下降本身也是innovative的下降。

A错在把study的例子作为全文主旨，而且approach是说第二段公司对于patening转化为了strategic的手段，所以太片面。

我也选C，我认为AC的区别在于文章的重点。A重点认为文章的目的是研究案例，C重点认为是通过案例研究关系。

1：根据GMAT的规律，很少有文章仅仅研究案例，而不从案例里面搞点结论出来。就像GMAT文章中指出对方错误观点，不可能不把自己观点拿出来一样。

2：研究案例的目的是什么，做案例分析的目的是什么，是找出结论和问题。所以，我认为文章中心绝对不会是研究案例的。

辗转犹豫很久，还是A好点。   

首先要说明的是，我不同意C的connection没有包含后文分析的观点。因为从主旨句Yet studies of the most patent-conscious business of all—the semiconductor industry—suggest that firms do not necessarily become more innovative as they increase their patenting      activity.看来，后面的squeeze patenting out of existing R&D和quality下降都是在表达innovation没有增加。

但即使是这样，就像ring_cheng说的，A对文章内容有更完整的把握，包括了文末的原因，并说出了结果（活动增加但没有创新）与文章开头相呼应，把一开始的这个新老观点对比也包含进去了。

5个选项都包含1982－1992，所以都是建立在主要说HZ的研究的基础上的。不能因为一个a study就排除A. 并且恰恰是A的表述不局限于研究本身（与patent初衷的背离），而C二者关系反而完全是基于HZ研究的。大家可以仔细体会一下表述的差别。

后面第一个案例--投资少-创新意识不强—但专利多

A错， 补充一点-- 全文没有介绍approach to patenting

千万别被误导了，文章整体在讲一个商业的现象，某种出发点，没有收到应该有的效果，然后举了一个例子，某行业。。。

如果选C，就从细节上过分强调那个行业的案例了。忽略了文章的整体结构，所以要选A

这篇文章是新老观点对比型，老观点：innovative和increased patenting是有关系的。新观点：not necessarily relate。接着举Z/H的一个study(众多studies of the most patent-conscious business of all之一)来论证。阅读主题题向来从前不从后，何况(A)中的"a study","approach","unanticipated results"都是有问题的。
