Transnational cooperation among corporations is experiencing a modest renaissance among United States firms, even though projects undertaken by two or more corporations under a collaborative agreement are less profitable than projects undertaken by a single corporation.  The advantage of transnational cooperation is that such joint international projects may allow United States firms to win foreign contracts that they would not otherwise be able to win.

Which of the following is information provided by the passage?

(A) Transnational cooperation involves projects too big for a single corporation to handle.

(B) Transnational cooperation results in a pooling of resources leading to high-quality performance.

(C) Transnational cooperation has in the past been both more common and less common than it is now among United States firms.

(D) Joint projects between United States and foreign corporations are not profitable enough to be worth undertaking. not profitable enough

(E) Joint projects between United States and foreign corporations benefit only those who commission the projects. benefit only those who commission the projects.

C是啥意思啊? 为啥不选B呀~~

This is an inference question, whose correct answer is a must-be-true type.

Pay attention to this phrase: "a modest renaissance" which means that the current state is better than before (a renaissance) but is not as great as the peak ( a modest one). Thus C correctly points out this feature of the current situation and becomes the correct answer.

C. simply wants to test to see if you know the meaning of "a modest renaissance"

Since the quesiton is  "Which of the following is information provided by the passage?" The choice must be mentioned in the passage. B. could be a reason why transnational cooperation able to win foreign contracts. However, the passage does not mention anything why transnational cooperation able to win foreign contracts. In that case, we can not choose B, because it is not "information provided by the passage".

这个题一下子就考住我了,我觉得错得是推理过度。其他选项都无法从题目中信息推出的,选错的都是made one more assumption beyond the information given.

看了一下 sdcar2010 大牛的,又结合了一下myrta前辈的,自己试着再总结下
a renaissance: peak, trough and recovery
结合c. the current state (recovery) is better than before (a trough) but not as great as the peak
