Jason, the professional objectives essay for Wharton.

For the long term goal, what's the time span Wharton is looking at?
What kind of goal is "compelling " enough? Is Business development manager grand enough?

Hi Jason, your threads are always insightful and attractive. Learned a lot.

Now I have an embarrassing question to ask:
My GPA is lower than 3.0(/4.0). How can I explain this to the adcom? The true reason for my poor performance is, of course:  I did not work hard enough because I chose a major that I'm not interested in. However, I'm confident with my learning ability because once I set up my mind to learn sth well, I will always end up with good result. Take the GMAT and iBT test for example, I scored 750 in G and 108 in T. Do you think that's a compensation for my GPA?

Thank you very much and best regards.

needthat> long term = at least 10-20 years. Head of business development maybe

leern> It sounds like a good enough reason... Just explain why you chose that major, then.

Thank u Jason! (Although u missed an "e" in my name)
I chose my major--computer science at the year 2000, when CS major was very popular among students. This meant, yes, that I chose my major just by following the majority of people. (I guess this is why we call it major...)
So in the "Turned down an Opportunity" essay, I'd like to illustrate a choice-making process in which I concerns several important factors that matter to me. I think these two parts can make a good pack to show the improvement and maturity I've got through years of learning and self-exploring. Do u think so?

Thank u for your feedback. Best regards!

leeern> in concept it sounds great. Be sure though to not just talk about the factors in general, but specifically orient the essay around what the question asks- an opportunity you turned down.

Sorry, Jason, I don't get it.
When you say "specifically orient the essay around what the question asks- an opportunity you turned down", do you mean that I should spend a large part of my essay describing why I turned down the opportunity instead of boasting some benefits that I could get from turning it down and taking another opportunity?

Always answer the question. If they asked you about the opportunity you turned down, then make most of the essay about that opportunity that you turned down. Not about another opportunity.
