Here are some tips that Jason gave me on my CV. 2) 5) addressed the common mistakes we make when describing our job duty and achievements. 6) is particularly useful for someone like me, who didn't carry many leadership role in extracurricular activities.

1) Be sure to explain what a award represents, and why it's awarded, rather than just putting the name of the awarded.

2) Explain what exactly you did, particularly in large projects like DD. Avoid vague words like 'interface'. What exactly was your task, what skillset you have straightaway? Were you flying around the world? Making phone calls only? Emailing? Were you problem-solving, what sort of problems, etc.

3) Why your contributions are remarkable VS your peers, by providing benchmarks.

4) Explain why you were chosen to do certain tasks over your peers- what were you better at than them?

5) Explain how you solved things. For example, 'identified and solve issues in...' (by doing what? Was this remarkable, meaning nobody else managed to solve it? Or were you highlighted for this, because it was so amazing an achievement?)

6) Cut down on personal, and try to expand on projects instead. Instead of telling membership (especially without leadership positions), just tell me your interests.

If you organised a fund-raising event, tell me the scale. How many people attended, how much was raised, what was your exact role, and so on. Did you initiate it? Lead it? Who else was involved? Did you lead student volunteers or fellow peers or senior managers?

7) Remove stuff like 'self-driven'... etc. It's just not useful, since everybody can say the same about themselves.

Hey Jason, Happy 2012 New Years~!!!

What do you suggest for the essay asking for scholarship? The school asked about significance of the achievement and why you should get the scholarship. I'm not sure how to deal with "asking for money". Is it like getting a venture capital by an elevator pitch? (then what kinds of reward sounds possible and nice for them?) Or just stating the financial need...(feeling awkard about this)

rabrab> There are two types of scholarships. Merit-based and need-based. If it is the latter, stating need is important. Most are not the latter. In which case, it is just another essay, just focusing on the achievement. Make sure you explain why you are such an exceptional, unique, and outstanding business professional.

Hey Jason, I've been invited to interview with Wharton, but my only option at the moment seems to be traveling to Hong Kong (I'll still need to get some sort of quasi visa to go to Hong Kong) if I want to do an in-person interview. The adcom has offered phone interview as an alternative, in your opinion, would a phone interview put me at a disadvantage? I mean, intuitively a face-to-face interview is definitely a better, but it really is troublesome for me to travel given my visa issue (which is why I can't do on-campus interview). Many thanks

Hi Jason, how do you think of Wharton's interview vs other schools, and what do you think are the key things to watch out? Thanks for your reply

Hi Jason. Very quick question and maybe it's hard to answer. If a person got a relatively high GMAT score. What's the percentage for him to get a interview oppurtunity? I should say is it high possibility for them to reject you only by reading the application(let's say the application is not too bad, just not very outstanding)? I totally understand if you can't answer this one. thanks a lot
