I love this session. I am 35 now, and my dream is to get in Top10 MBA. My goal is to have an opportunity to work in US, changing my career from MKT to IB(I know it is a big jump).
However, this year I only got an offer ranking 20 school(UNC), without scholarship. Considering my investment, future returns and school resources, I am now thinking to reapply next year.
Of course, my friends and family...everyone prefers I start to study this year due to the concerns on older age. I am really struggling: this is a huge investment, and I wish to use it at the right place.
Currently, I don't know what should I do, the deadline of UNC deposit is 5/11.
Make sure you do want to do IB at 37/38. It will be a big challenge, both physically and mentally.
As a newcomer, I can not provide you any insight to describe the pros and cons of UNC program. If you are considering age issue, the fact is that YOU, 35, are not the oldest chinese admit among UNC class 2009 chinese admits.
This year, the average age of the admits is probably above 30.
So, the fact can derive two points:
Firstly, Do not be afraid of having old age, unless your are mentally aged.
Secondly, If joinning us, you probably have more contemporary buddies, who are in the same shoes as you, than in other program.
Hey friend, nice to see you again here. Finally you decided to go to UNC. Great choice! Hold on your dream.
Your sample is too small to be representative, and hence your conclusion is not well founded.
MBA opens some opportunity doors for us.
I plan to take a P/T MBA program from a B-school ranked 30s this fall, got exemption on both GMAT and essays, and don't want to waste all two-year on a full-time program.
How could you do that?!
