OG11th-14. The commission has directed advertisers to restrict the use of the word "natural" to foods that do not contain color or flavor additives, chemical preservatives, or nothing that has been synthesized.

(A) or nothing that has been

(B) or that has been

(C) and nothing that is

(D) or anything that has been

(E) and anything

我想问一下D答案中的that has been能省掉么?

OG11th-33Although schistosomiasis is not often fatal, it is so debilitating that it has become an economic drain on many developing countries.
(A) it is so debilitating that it has become an economic
(B) it is of such debilitation, it has become an economical
(C) so debilitating is it as to become an economic
(D) such is its debilitation, it becomes an economical
(E) there is so much debilitation that it has become an economical

OGC的解释很是让我迷惑阿~~OG解释:The construction so x as to y is not a correct idiom;

难道so as to 只能连起来用???我记得so x as to y是有这种用法的

OG11th-59 His studies of ice-polished rocks in his Alpine homeland, far outside the range of present-day glaciers, led Louis Agassiz in 1837 to propose* concept of an age in which great ice sheets' existed in now currently temperate areas.

A) in which great ice sheets had existed: currently temperate areas

(B) in which great ice sheets existed in what are now temperate areas

(C) when great ice sheets existed where there were areas now temperate

(D) when great ice sheets had existed in current temperate areas

(E) when great ice sheets existed in areas now that are temperate

OG11th –97 The stars, some of them at tremendous speed, are in motion just as the planets are, yet being so far away from Earth that their apparent positions in the sky do not change enough for their movement observed during a single human lifetime.

(A) The stars, some of them at tremendous speeds, are in motion just as the planets are, yet being

(B) Like the planets, the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, but they are

(C) Although like the planets the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, yet

(D) As the planets, the stars are in motion, some of them at tremendous speeds, but they are

(E) The stars are in motion like the planets, some of which at tremendous speeds are in motion but

This alternative construction would lead the reader to expect the verb immediately following the subject, are, and then the completion fo the clause,in motion

OG11th –130  As a result of medical advances, many people that might at one time have died as children of such infections as diphtheria, pneumonia, or rheumatic fever now live well into old age.
(A) that might at one time have died as children
(B) who might once have died in childhood
(C) that as children might once have died
(D) who in childhood might have at one time died
(E) who, when they were children, might at one time have died

OG11th –120 It has been estimated that the annual cost to the United States of illiteracy in lost industrial output and tax revenues is at least $20 billion a year.

(A) the annual cost to the United States of illiteracy in lost industrial output and tax revenues is at least $20 billion a year

(B) the annual cost of illiteracy to the United States is at least $20 billion a year because of lost industrial output and tax revenues

(C) illiteracy costs the United States at least $20 billion a year in lost industrial output and tax revenues

(D) $20 billion a year in lost industrial output and tax revenues is the annual cost to the United States of illiteracy

(E)lost industrial output and tax revenues cost the United States at least $20 billion a year because of illiteracy

OG11th –129 Joan of Arc, a young Frenchwoman who claimed to be divinely inspired, turned the tide of English victories in her country by liberating the city of Orleans and she persuaded Charles VII of France to claim his throne.
A. she persuaded Charles VII of France to claim his throne
B. persuaded Charles VII of France in claiming his throne
C. persuading that the throne be claimed by Charles VII of France
D. persuaded Charles VII of France to claim his throne
E. persuading that Charles VII of France should claim the throne

1.the number of 和the numbers of 有什么区别的??the number of是指“数目”;numbers of是指数量(多)

2.try doing和try to do有什么区别的??try doing是尝试做某事;try to do是努力去做某事(attempt to do or get sth)

xiexiedajia~~~

unlike,in constrast to,contrary to the general,on the other hand,furthermore,ironically,surprisingly等等。

OGC的解释很是让我迷惑阿~~OG解释:The construction so x as to y is not a correct idiom;

难道so as to 只能连起来用???我记得so x as to y是有这种用法的 这个。。。

OG11th –130  As a result of medical advances, many people that might at one time have died as children of such infections as diphtheria, pneumonia, or rheumatic fever now live well into old age.
(A) that might at one time have died as children
(B) who might once have died in childhood

(D) who in childhood might have at one time died
(E) who, when they were children, might at one time have died

(E)lost industrial output and tax revenues cost the United States at least $20 billion a year because of illiteracy

I felt a need to please people, whatever the cost in energy and time.

Agassiz propose the concept of an age in which great ice sheets existed in now currently temperate area A:in which great ice sheets had existed in now currently temperate areas, now 和currently重复

33.首先肯定的是so…as to …

理解一下so as to so …that 结构还是有必要的

so。。。that…

首先,介词+which 要优于when,所以cde都排出,其次now currently语义重复,罗嗦。另外,what is now A 是一个固定结构,类似的结构还有A is to B what C is to D,两个结构一起背下来吧,这道题的解释在刘振民语法138页有,可以参考一下。

            into old age .

add oil!

OG11th –130  As a result of medical advances, many people that might at one time have died as children of such infections as diphtheria, pneumonia, or rheumatic fever now live well into old age.
(A) that might at one time have died as children
