Can somebody share the information of the Financial Aid? Normally how much the assistantship or scholarship can cover the tuition?

Seems not attractive in the website.

Hi everyone, I heard that for North American applicants who get admitted Stanford makes a phone call or leaves a voicemail at work to inform them of the decision.  Does anyone know whether that's the case for Greater China?  Or is it via email because of time zone differences?  Good luck to everyone who's applying =)

答：I don't have the exact number, but it seems like Stanford is at least no worse than other schools in the same tier. In the few cases I know, people got around 20k/year. Please note most Stanford financial aid is need based.

I sincerely hope you won't choose school based on financial aid, I don't want to go into a cost/benefit analysis here, as I think this question is beyond that. Seriously ask yourself, would you really turn down Stanford if there's no scholarship? If the answer is yes, then maybe you shouldn't consider this school.

答：Last year Derrick actually called and talked to most of the applicants in the Greater China area.

有个问题想问问去年申请过的朋友,或申请过第一轮的同学: STANFORD的正式GT成绩需要在何时寄到?我留意到网站上写可以SELF REPORT,但也注明了要寄正式的.这个问题本来可以发信去问ADCOM的,但他们目前正在休假. 所以希望各位有过申请STANFORD经验的朋友提示我一下,谢谢!

I do support tuxiaoyang's point. I suggest you to close your eyes and ask your heart, 20年之后你会为了少拿了5万或者10万美金的奖学金而后悔, 还是会为了没有去一个你想去, 又能去的学校而后悔. -- I know you may not be seriously worried about scholarship. i just want to add my 2%.

答：理论上要在deadline之前，但是似乎可以拖到很后来（比如面试前）。我不确定。可以确定的是比deadline晚两周没关系。注：仅仅是我的推测。
