Cheating, or at least the perception
of cheating, is well established in some parts of Asia, particularly
China. It is widely understood that doing business in China presents
problems, and companies worry over copyright/IPR issues right up front
in dealing with Chinese companies. I am sure that some level of
cheating occurs everywhere, but not to this same extent.
I am an ARC (American raised Chinese), so this issue is particularly
bothersome to me. I am sure that when b-schools see my name, a red flag
goes up. My saving grace is the personal contact I make with admissions
staff to assure them that, culturally, I have little firsthand exposure
to Asia since my background, language skills, and accent make it pretty
clear that I was raised in the US.
当时有点气愤, 所以回了个贴, 说 To nj_for_mba:
If you are bothered for being borned as a
Chinese, I have a better idea for you to make adcom believe you are not
Chinese anymore:
Stick your US passport or citizenship card on
your face, body and butt, demonstrating that you are indeed an ARC (
What a trash name). If you are not a US citizen yet - well, i am
sorry, that's the way you are born to be. You can cry or go back and
blame your parents. Maybe they will spank you for being not mature.
