| Your response and comment hearken back to our earlier 'spar' on the subject. Mine is not misinformation; it's true. It suddenly occurred to me that the main reason for our disagreement is that I only consider base salaries  -- that is, summer research support, which can amount to $20,000, is not included.
 
 I took a cursory glance at the file through the link you provided here. It's interesting, and I hope a similar effort will be initiated by the other concentration areas. The 9-month DS for the sample institutions -- $60,000 (min.), $233,000 (max.), and $138,500 (mean) -- would suggest that the marketing area overall pays less than Fin and Acc., but usually by a moderate amount. By the way, the compensation of $60,000 is quite disconcerting to me, as even a heavily teaching -oriented school typically pays $80,000 or above. It can be less than the starting salary of a 4-year college graduate. Does that make sense? Or, the survey was problematic.
