1. INTRODUCTION
我们也把通过各种渠道搜集到的一个 PhD Program Placements 排名放在这儿，这主要是根据各商学院近年来毕业生进入 Research School 的比例排名（见以下注释一）。有的学校 Placements 信息有误或不够准确，如存在这种情况则以核实的结果为准（见以下注释二）。此外，三类学校不在排名之列（见以下注释三）。此排名目前仅限美国学校。这是总体排名，稍微倾斜于Finance 专业，但总体而言能够反映各个 PhD Program 下面各个不同专业方向的排名，Top School 尤其如此，因为 Top School 实力雄厚，一般各个专业方向的发展比较均衡，Placements 都不会差。对于排名中等的学校，该 Placement Rankings 可能无法十分准确地反映各个不同专业方向的具体情况，偏差可能比较大。现举一例。University of Missouri -Columbia 商学院 PhD Program 总体而言属于中等档次，可以到他家网上浏览，但个别专业特别突出，尤其是 Accounting, 毕业生去向非常好，大部分去了很好的研究型学校，不乏 UT-Austin 这类学校。出现这种情况，究其原因是多方面的，其中一个原因是中等档次学校多数是公立大学，资源毕竟有限，很多情况下无法保证各个专业方向均衡发展。对于排名靠后的学校，总体实力较弱，一般各个专业方向都不会很强，即使个别专业方向很突出，但这种情况毕竟属于特例，所以，这个排名榜也基本能反映这类学校各个不同专业方向的 Placements 情况。另外，还没有见到分专业方向的 PhD Program Placements 排名，因为这要耗费巨大人力物力。
毕业生的 Research School Placements, 主要包括正规的Tenure-track Assistant Professor，另外R1 院校 (以统计 Top School 为主）的 Visiting Assistant Professor 和 Postdoc 也包括在内，但任何 Reseach School 的 Clinical Assistant Professor (或称 Assistant Professor of Practice，或称 Instructor, 等等) 职位不计算在内，因为这类职位属于纯教学职位。
本排名只考虑各个学校毕业生进入 Research School 的比例，但并没有进一步细分分别进入 R1 Research School, R2 Research School，以及 R3 Research School 的比例。事实上，前两档即 Top 50 学校进入R1 Research School的比例最高，依次递减， 尤其是第四档学校中大部分学校的 Placements 以 R2 甚至 R3 学校为主，例如 Louisiana State University，University of Cincinnatti，等等。
某些学校每年可能会有少量人去业界，这主要涉及 Economics, Finance, IS （主要是 Data Science 这一块）以及其他 Qunatitative 的个别领域 （如 Operations Research, Quantitative Marketing), 但比例非常低，一般不会超过10%，所以不会影响学校的总体排名。
We pay close attention to the overall trend of a program's placements during recent years.
Finally, there may be inaccuracies and biases in our ranking data, which are inevitable.
Note One
Placements 中 Research School 的确定依据 Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Learning 的分类，包括：
（1）Research One (R1) 分类中除去 University of Southern Mississippi 之外的所有设有商学院的院校；
(2) Research Two (R2) 分类中的部分院校 （从American University 到 Southern Methodist University, 再到Yeshiva University）；
（3）Research Three (R3) 分类中的三所院校, 即 Hofstra University, Miami University（Ohio), 和 Santa Clara University。Santa Clara University 在 US News & World Report 属于典型的 Regional Master's University, 即 Teaching School, 但其 Business School 很强大，在 UTD Top 100 排名很高，系 UTD Top 100 中 唯一的Teaching School, 所以 Placements 中 Santa Clara University 理应属于 Research School, 而且还是非常好的 Research School。另外，R3 分类中的 Pace University 和 Pepperdine University 商学院还不错，但在 Placements 中没有作为 Research School, 因为这两所商学院以教学为主，而且所发表论文绝大部分不入流。
Note Two
有些学校公布的 Placements 信息有误或不够准确，尤其是排名比较靠后的学校，可能由于疏忽，但可能也有其他原因或考量。最为常见的有两种情况，一种是 Research School 职位为 Visiting 或 Clinical（这类职位已经讨论过），但却不注明，另一种情况是 Research School 其实是某州立大学系统下的一个 Teaching School 分校（这类分校往往排名很低），但却不注明分校名称。另外还有一种情况是，某某州大学和某某州立大学混淆，例如 Washington State University 误写为 University of Washington，这两家至少相差两档半。
Note Three
本排名中以下三类学校不做统计，即:（1）项目刚成立不久，缺乏毕业生去向的数据，或尚未有毕业生，如Stevens Institute of Technology，University of Massachusetts Boston；（2）只招收单一专业的学校，如University of Toledo，University of Louisville 等等;（3）不入流的学校，包括招收走读生或非传统的项目，如 Illinois Institute of Technology，Jackson State University 等等。属于后两种情况的学校排名都比较低。
2. PLACEMENT RANKINGS
各档次学校 Placements 中 Research School 的比例分配大致如下：
TIER ONE (第一档）：90%及以上；
TIER TWO (第二档）：70%左右至80%左右；
TIER THREE (都三档）：40%左右至60%左右；
TIER FOUR (第四档）：20%左右至30%左右；
TIER FIVE (第五档）：10%左右及以下。
Placements 排名中的 TIER 1 和 TIER 2 共有30多所学校，基本上相当于我们笼统上俗称的 TOP 30-40。
TIER 3 共有10多所学校（接近20所），总体属于 UPPER MIDDLE 或MIDDLE。从TIER 1 到TIER 3 共有60所学校左右。
TIER 1 和TIER 2 的学校多为顶尖私立名校和少数顶尖公立名校，大家已经非常熟悉，所以 TIER 3 及其以后梯次学校的 Placements 排名的参考意义会更大一些。
Note: 第三和第四档学校 Placements 中 Research School 的比例分配跨度都比较大，因为学校共分为五档，无法再细分。

Note 1: 第三档中唯一两所私立学校之一，研究实力位于前四十之列，Placements 相对较为逊色，但从近两年看上升非常迅速。

Note 5: 典型的中档学校，但上升势头明显，大约一半毕业生进入 Research School。
Note 6: 各个方向发展不够均衡，Accounting 最突出，其他方向较为一般。
Note 7: University of Oklohoma 是一所被大家忽视或低估的学校，可谓规模小质量高，就业出路很不错。
Note 8: 属于上升中的明星，发展很快，这从近几年的 Placements 看非常明显（Finance 方向相对较弱），已经接近University of Maryland, UIUC 等传统名校，总体而高于TIER 3 中其他很多学校, 但我们暂且将其保留在 TIER 3。
Note 9: 项目发展势头非常看好，总体情况和上述 University of Kansas，University of Colorado 以及 University of Iowa 基本相似。
Note 10: 非典型项目，在读生多具有很长工作经验，就业出路极好。

Note 3: 这所学校很少论及，但好像管理专业历史悠久，出路也很好，其他专业一般。
Note 4: 典型的中档或略微偏下项目，处于明显的上升期。该项目对格外重视 Teaching Training，这与其他项目与众不同，所以建议希望毕业去 Research School 的申请者需要考虑这一点，因为对 PhD Students 来说，过多的 Teaching 要求势必会影响 Research。
Note 5: Florida International University 无论学校和商学院的总体排名不是很靠前，在Florida排在 University of South Florida之后，但 Placements 很不错的，尤其是Accounting 和 Management 方向 (该学校共有四个专业方向，另两个为 Finance 和 ISnformation Sysstems)，有不少人进入 Baruch College, University of Mexico 等这一级别的 Research School, 而且进入 Research School 的比例比较可观，故此我们将 FIU 升格为 Tier 4，当然是比较靠后的位置。
Note 6: 目标宏大，学校对项目支持力度很大，近年 Placements 可观。

It has performed fairely impressively although WVU is not considered a top public university and the WVU business school is relatively unsung (particuarly in terms of its absence from most rankings, such as UTD Top 100 Business School Rankings).
UNRANKED:
The following programs are unranked for various reasons, such as scarcity or unavailability of placement information, newness and hence lack of placements, etc.
Tulane University
Note: The Tulane University program used to have two concentrations, namely Organizations Management and Finance, and they each performed impressivley. However, OM was cancelled a few years ago, and Finance is the only concentration at present -- with a few students enrolled at any time of the year. Therefore, we no longer consider the Tulane program is a mainstream program and hence have chosen to put it under the 'Unranked' category.
