When you go over the placements of a program, especially a non-top one, do so with a discerning eye. Sometimes, an outstanding placement turns out to be for a clinical position (in most cases, these are not much different from adjunct ones that typically do not require a PhD). At other times, it may be for an institution's regional campus (these are typical teaching schools, such as PSU-Harrisburg).

An interesting fact is that certain teaching-oriented institutions boast outstanding business schools. Santa Clara University, for instance, is a typical regional master's university and is even not classified as an R3 university. However, its business school ranks very well on the UTD Top 100 list (the only teaching school on that list).

Loyola Marymount University is another example of a teaching school with an awesome business school. While LMU is a regional Master's university, its business school is nationally ranked (most faculty members have PhDs from top schools).
