Hi~我就读博问题询问了program director Tim,他给出的回复如下:
"Attending Illinois would be a great credential on any PhD application because of the strong accounting reputation that it has. However, that by itself is not enough. While in the MSA program, he or she must excel academically as PhD programs are very competitive. That means strong GPA. Also it is very important that he or she is able to obtain at least 2 strong faculty recommendations from Illinois. To do that, the student needs to be visible, build a relationship with the professor, actively participate in class, and perform well. Make sure they understand that the US style of teaching requires regular interactions between student and professors. So meeting professors is not an issue. Good English speaking and writing skills are important. Don't underestimate this as most PhD admissions will require an interview at some point. Finally, the student needs to make sure he or she has a passion for teaching AND research equally and this passion must be acknowledged by those who write the recommendations. No time to be shy when you get here. Once he or she arrives in June, I am happy to develop a plan that each student can follow to improve their chances. Nothing is ever guaranteed. It will require hard work and effort.
While at Illinois, there is no problem for any student to meet those professors who are involved in the PhD program. It is just a matter of reaching out to him or her and asking for a brief meeting."
