710分TOP 10以后的学校基本没有问题,

但TOP 5, 怎么讲呢,不是没有成功的可能性.

可是你愿意让这一个项目成为你申请中的短板么？

如果你觉得自己其他方面够强，能够打动admission officer,可以不考虑．

如果有时间的话，还是重新考试一次吧．

Bi Hao Yi Si!

     Salute to every GMAT guru upstairs!    I have been living in US for so long and typing Chinese is a headache (snail speed). So please forgive me using English.  

       Simply feel sick of being a slave with no forseeable breakthrough in my current career path. Would like to give it a try to MBA. But after evaluating the Earning/Price   ratio. I figure it would only make sense to go  for top5 schools. ( 6 figure annual income already and a pretty enjoyable life, hate to give up status quo for b-school torture.) Any XDJM with similar situation? Plus, my dream to a world-top class school seems never fading. Shame to mention that  I went to some so-so schools in China.

My background

     5 years of work experience, technical postion in a Big Evil company  . What does Google say? " Don't be evil!"

I wonder how admission staff will treat me, to put me in the Chinese application catergory or local category?  I have green card and been in US for 9 years.

If you hold the green card, you will be considered domestic applicant. Though you are not in the asian international pool, you are still in the over-represented pool for domestic applicants. (asian american) 710 is not gonna be a plus in your application, but it is not gonna hurt you either. The entire application package is the combination of the score, eduacation, experiences, essays, and interviews. 780 is not a guarantee for entering top schools, 620 is not a guarantee for being dinged by harvard either.

What is your career goal after MBA? If you want to switch to management role, then it is quite feasible. however, dont exepct for a huge jump on your salary, since you already have 6 digits. If you just want to fullfill your ivy-league dream, i would sincerely suggest you to give up. Seriously, more than $300,000 for fullfilling the dream? you must be kidding me. I might be a little rude here, but 2 years and $300,000 are just too much to give up for that.

Or you can have your evil company to reimburse your tuition. Most of those gigantic firms will reimburse your spending. If you are getting your dream fullfilled for free, then why not??

         You did push my button, in a positive way though! Really appreciat your insights about MBA program.  I have been fence-rdiging  for years about my next direction. If I were 10 years younger, I won't think for a second before chasing my dream. But now, I have to look before leap.

i can understand your 举棋不定, but i cant understand why you 懊恼不已. There arent really anything for you to fret about. You already have a pretty enjoyable life as you mentioned, which is what most people here are looking for. (i am pushing your button again, haha)

do a pro&con for your career vs. your life vs. your childhood dream. Consult your close friends and family members. You are the only one who knows the puzzle the best, and is able to put all these pieces together.

If talk about cost/return only, I am always wondering whether spending two years plus more than 300K is a wise decision.

非杞人忧天,

The prevailing outsourcing practise in high tech and even traditonal industry renders IT positions unpredictable and as weak as a "Candle in the wind". I witnessed 2-3 rounds of layoff in my division. Honest speaking, I lost enthusiasm for current job. As the Chinese wisedom goes, " 人挪活,树挪死". I'm not the only Chinese engineer in my group  who  desires a change. Our corp headquarter is in Redmond.

By the way, mind me asking what's your job line?
