我同意E，B的错误有四：（1）时态错，过去时appeared与现在完成时have vanished搭配错，逻辑不通，appeared表示过去存在，现在已不存在，如何have vanished？？（2）that从句修饰不清，99 percent or five hundred million different species？？（3）five hundred million different species后有that从句修饰，前应加the；（4）头重脚轻。

同意（2）、（3）、（4）意见，但对时态还是有些不清楚，觉得appear应该是在vanish之前，这应该是两个有先后顺序的词，当时就是因为这个才选了B，怎么来理解这两个动作是同时的呢？

我一开始也选了A，后来发现A不对的主要原因是逻辑主语不对，by doing的逻辑主语应为句子主语，也就是Reptiles burns calories ，这是不对的，应该是他的身体burn calories，其他错误更多，所以虽然不喜欢instead of ,也只能同意E。

我觉得B中的they 不对，they 是指代Dolphins，D能发展这个系统吗？我觉得应该是使用，就好象说人produce 了一个呼吸系统一样，感觉有些不对。其实我也不是很喜欢D，不喜欢里面的being produced，但觉得其他的更不对，所以只能选了这个，你的意见呢？

我觉得they produce没有逻辑问题，海豚制造了一个系统，可以讲得通

D的错误有二：（1）being produced错，being强调正在进行，文中没有这层意思；（2）a complicated system of ... 做sounds的同位语错，不能把sounds解释成a complicated system of ... ，这样就成了所有的sounds都是a complicated system of ... ，事实上，人的sounds和海豚的sounds是不一样的，可以参考OG-220对D的解释

我觉得B不对，因为前面的could be中的be 是一个实义动词，be cleaner（形容词），后面的be是助动词，用于被动语态的，前后be的功能不同，所以后面的be不能省略，于是就选了A。不知这个看法对不对？？

你是对的，我刚才查了一下longman，可以人做主语burn off calories，所以reptiles也可以，那我也还是同意A吧，这样还少错一个
