My concern, could be a little remote, is that IBD in the end is a relationship business. We, as Chinese, are naturally tied closer to Chinese market and Chinese clients. It is always harder to build up trust and relationships with foreigners. I didn't see many senior Chinese bankers on the street. And I know some of my friends are trying hard to get back to China. Of course, there are exceptions, but generally speaking, from long-term career development perspective, I would say IBD in US is challenging. And it is not often for US offices to handle crossborder M&A involving Chinese counterparties directly.
Another thing is, if you join IB after MBA, you start from Associate position. You don't get as much technical exposure as analysts do.
Have you ever thought about HK? Nomura?
