USC with half tuition waive ($21,000 per year) or Duke with higher ranking?

Always love South Cal weather and everything else. Guess my choice will be based on:

- whether I want to have a great two year living in south cal or to live in the middle of nowhere in North Carolina (well, closer to NYC)

- whether the higher ranking of Duke (US News No. 14) can trade off USC's money (US News No. 21)

- whether I want to come back to Asia/stay in west coast or stay in US with nation-wide reach

My CG in essays is to continue in marketing field, but doubt I want to get back to the corporate world with so much bs going on everyday. Thinking about doing MC, but wondering whether I'm too old for that (I know MCs want em young and hungry).

Any insights from anyone?

I would take Duke. The quality of the program and the prestige of the program is much better, besides the network. Due to the worsening economy in the US, a better school will give you a better chance to get a dream job, which is more valuable than the $20k. Check with Duke whether you can get loan or not.

if you like Marketing, you should choose Duke, which has a much better ranking in marketing.

Duke is among top 10 in management, marketing, international. You probably need to consider specialty ranking on top of overal ranking as well.

我也建议Duke。毕竟marketing不错，reputation和alumni都要比USC好一点。
你的青春和激情，尽可以在北卡的农村释放出来。
不要让你上次去Duke campus visit遇到的一些小小不愉快影响了你。
以前IBan老是说，你拿到哪个offer更加兴奋，就去哪个。
你拿到Duke的当晚出去跳舞了，貌似更加兴奋一点。

说真的，接到USC offer的时候是最兴奋的。

My heart tells me to go to USC, but my brain says Duke...

不光是学费的事儿。我有southern california情结...

我觉得就像你heart和brain的反应分别那样，你要跳出来站在更长的时间线上来想，未来10年或者更长的时间里，你的内心最想要的是事业（Duke），还是生活（USC）...
