不选E的原因：不是involvement in the women’s suffragemovement.而是 in cost-of-living movement
不选A的原因：我认为（个人观点，这道题具有争议）Although New York’s Socialists saw the cost-of-living issue as, at best(some socialists), secondary(most:union organizing——best method, movement——change into alternative) or tertiary(cost-of-living——suffrage) to the real task at hand, the boycotters, by sharp contrast, joined the price protest movement out of an urgent and deeply felt commitment to the cost-of-living issue.结合这句话和第一段的描述可以知道，socialists之间对于the cost-of-living issue也是有不同看法的，而这些看法是作者以描述性的语言表述的，然后再讲了women的看法。所以应该是针对the cost-of-living issue解决的不同方式提出作者的一种历史性观点，而非contrast。Socialists和women之间只是attitude有区别。
