Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People can solve important problems by themselves or with the help from their family members so there’s no need for the government to help them.
There is a growing tendency these days for people to ask for more and more merits from government. Some sociologists claim that many people seem to live under the illusion that government ought to prepare everything well for their entire life, therefore they do not need to work hard to get a cozy life. According to some spokespersons from the government, there is no need for the authorities to put all the stress on assisting the citizens to solve problems as they can always get reliable aid from family members. But is it really the case? The information I have collected over the last few years leads me to believe that the government still plays as an indispensible role in the maintenance of social life in the entire world.
To begin with, there is no doubt that some problems can be better solved with the help of the government. In several situations, only the government can stand up to face the problems. For instance, when a child gets kidnapped, their parents can only get little information even when they have already tried best. While on the contrary, the government is able to gather experts from different aspects to investigate the crime and carry out a full-scale search all over the country. With the endeavor of the policemen and specialists from authorities, the case will be solved in a much more efficient way. When serious pollution has been caused by a nearby factory in a city and threatens the residents’ health, it is without doubt that the local people should turn to the government for help. In this way, immediate measures can be taken to release the nearby citizen from the dangerous spot and refresh the dioxide air in the city. Evidently, the government is in the best position to help people solve such problems.
In addition, people might even be unaware of some problems arise in their life. We live a simple life without recognizing plenty of unknown risks outside. It is the government that devotes large amount of time and energy to deal with issues including global warming, exploration of the space, and various experiments considering medical cure. To ordinary people, government is more than just a service to citizens; it is an organization to protect the safety of the whole human beings. I am amazed at the event happened in 2012 when the medical institutes in China first developed the cure for H7N9. Lots of families finally are able to revive their loved and continue a cheerful family life. Therefore, on no account can we ignore the value of government.
Even though it is true that government should take the basic responsibility to maintain social harmony and progress. People should not take the merits for granted. In fact, social responsibilities are mutual. Only when we can make contribution to the society can the society render merits to us in the end.
From what has been discussed above, I firmly believe that government plays an indispensable role in people's life. There is no denying that the government makes adequate efforts to create a perfect living environment for city residents. Besides, as for me, it is also our responsibilities to join hand with the government to create a much better society for our decedents.
