Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more important to work quickly and risk making mistakes than to work slowly and make sure everything is correct.
As the old saying goes, “Time is money.” No matter which kind of job one is devoted to, a serious attitude toward time is always the key matter one should pay full attention to. As soon as the task begins, any delay might account to vital fault. To some extent, high speed means more mistakes. But it does not indicate one cannot finish the whole work correctly within a shorter time. In my opinion, working efficiently and trying not to make mistakes should be best option.
Firstly, when task begins, every minute should be fullly used of. Saving one second means gaining one second. So we should always make a tight schedule and obey to the rule. Finishing all the staff before the deadline not only increase our work efficiency, but also provide us with special satisfaction. This experience will even motivate us to aim at higher goal with high spirit. In this regard, I may refer to my friend Maria, who is working at KPMG Shenzhen office. She was appointed as the in charge of an IPO team last winter. Recognizing that the deadline was unbelievably early, she made a tight engagement schedule right away and asked all the team members to focus on time management. After 20 days high efficient work, they finished all the tasks in time even without making too many mistakes.
Secondly, there is no need to be afraid of making mistakes. Even though you might make plenty of mistakes at first when you start to speed up your working pace, you can get the opportunity to learn from the past. One will never know what he can achieve if he does not dare to push himself to a limit. But as long as you start to try, you will find yourself getting better and better as time goes on. Eventually, you can fulfill the entire task with even half the time and making no mistakes at all.
Last but not least, one devoted to the work with full intention will minimize the risk of making mistakes. Researchers at China Academy of Social Sciences conducted a survey in 2 groups of students in Shanghai No.2 Middle School. One group of students were been told that they have to finish the exam paper in 30 minutes, while the other group of students were not given a specific a deadline. In the end, the result showed that the first group of students made fewer mistakes than the second group.
To sum up, when we are being assigned to finish a task, there is no excuse for us to slow down our speed unconditionally to avoid making mistakes. Time is treasure to us and we should cherish it. Concentrating our mind on the work without abstraction in order to diminish the risk of making mistakes, we will become a winner of time.
