If you are planning on visiting campus, please plan your trip in advance! As staff, we want to make sure that your individual needs are met and that may require pre-planning. Look at your schools and see when they offer campus visits. They may be individual basis or have scheduled programming as a group of interested parties. Be flexible in your dates if you can.

Prior to arrival on campus, make sure you confirm the start time of your visit aswell as confirming the time zone. Check the weather to make sure you arecomfortable and have a jacket if necessary. The dress code should becommunicated in the visit’s confirmation letter.

Helpful things to bring on-site with you would be copies of your resume. You never know who you will meet and ask you for one. If you have personal business cards, I would bring a few of those. It’s important to make sure you connect withpeople while on campus. If you forgot to bring resumes, be sure to ask yourhosts for their contact information.

I encourage you to have a list of questions prepared in advance to ask when you are on campus. The questions should cover topics about the applicationprocess, academic focus, clubs and organizations, as well as what is the campusand community vibe. Your number one priority is to be a great student and startyour next career opportunity, but we want you to enjoy the campus/community aswell. Check out a sporting event, go to a concert and participate in a culturalevent.  

Career services center may be a stop on your campus visit as well. If you wish to chatwith someone about placement, or your personal career goals, communicate thatin advance. The admissions officer or visit scheduler may be able to setup a pre-arrival phone call with career services so they can better assist youwhen you are on campus.

As you prepare for your visit, review the schools areas offocus. You may be able to sit in a class in that option area, or meet with afaculty member. It will also help you be able to determine which focus are isbest for you and your long term goals.
