4. Your Resume & Work Experience. The amount of work experienceand the relevance of it as it relates to your short & long term goals, willput you in a better position. Play close attention to detail on your resume,just as you would with a job search effort. Many schools have a minimumnumber of years of work experience as a requirement for their applicants. Yourresume could be that one thing that will set up apart from other candidates.Maybe you have global experience, or good supervisory experience, or projectmanagement.

工作经验肯定是MBA项目很看重的一点。注意你递交申请时候的简历，着重突出你在工作中学到了什么。而不仅是工作了几年。

5. Letters of recommendation. Take time to choose your recommenders.Ask them to help you with this task far in advance of when the letters are due.Remember that it may not be their top priority to get the letter done for you.Remind them but don’t be too persistent, and have a backup plan for someone who may not have thetime to complete the letter for you. Something you might also do is provide them withinformation that ultimately you would want to have included in the letter –what your goals are; if it is a former professor, what classes you took withthem and specific projects you worked on in their class; if it is a supervisor,what achievements you have reached at work and what your project successeswere. Make sure they have materials that make it easy for them to writeletters that are specific to you. Strong letters of recommendation can push aborderline applicant to the yes side!

选择推荐人也很重要。但是也要准备好备选的推荐人，以防你的推荐人太忙不能帮你写推荐信。同时也要告诉你推荐人一些你的经历以及你的申请项目的介绍。

6. Personal Statement/Essay. Use the essay to tell YOUR story. Make itwhat it’s called…personal. Similar to a job interview, show why you are theright candidate for them to choose and what you bring to the table. Make thepersonal statement as specific as you can to the school you are applying to, sothat shows you did your homework on the program. And while this seems silly to have to say, answer thequestions being asked by the particular school. Admissions officers do not wantto read cold, generic essays. Put yourself and your goals into your statementso they really feel that they are getting to know you. And as with yourresume, pay attention to the details. Poor grammar and typos are a horriblereflection and may cause your application to move to the no pile!

FinalAdvice:

•      Proofread your application more than once

•      Have someone else proofread it too.

•      If you know a current student, ask themfor advice on the application process.

•      Make sure that you review the program’swebsite and the university’s website for admissions requirements.  

•      Double check that all of your documentshave been received by the right office. This can include official GMAT scores,letters of recommendation, transcripts. Many times this can be checked online.
