10.1号 题目:Teachers should assignhomework for students every day?

Admittedly, daily homework assigned by teachers may improve students’  performances in class and thus help them attain higher grades. Nevertheless, can we just say that it is essential for teachers to assign homework every day? The answer is obviously negative. Daily homework suffers from several flaws on various grounds, including restricting student’s time of after-class activities, impeding their conversations with close friends, and forming disadvantage to their health.
To beginwith, consecutive and abundant homework assigned by  teachers take up the time of after-class activities, as a result students become machine for learning and have no time to cultivate their interests . When  students are imaging to go to a art museum to appreciate artworks or to go to amusic performance center to appreciate symphony after class, their illusion will break up once they remember that ample homework are waiting for them. Therefore, they have to finish their homework first and then they can have time for enjoyment. What a pity that they could not escape from assignments just for a moment. So it seems that students’ life have been monotonous since theirreduced or even no time for after-class activities.

Furthermore, concentrating on homework every night impedes their pleasant conversationswith close friends. There are numerous problems they are facing inhomework that they ignore the frequent conversations with close friends. This is not the worst thing and the problem it takes is even more terrible. The absence of pleasant conversations with close friends may lead to the loss of best friends, keeping students to themselves without communicating with others, and making students feel lonely or even commit suicide. And according to asurvey conducted by Students Protection Organization, more than 2000 adolescents commit suicide because of academic pressure, and 67% of them had talked with their parents that they felt lonely and helpless. Since we humans are social animals, we can not survive without communicating with others. And homework apparently can not speak.

Lastbut not least, long-time sitting when doing homework will form disadvantage to student’s health. According to an experiment conducted by professors from Oxford University, if one sits continuously for more than 5 hours without standing up for an hour exercise, one’s longevity will contract with a higher incidence for heart disease than ordinary people. For a lot of students, their daily life is studying at schooland doing homework after school. It is a luxurious thing for them to spend time  exercising, which in turn does harm to student’s health. Someone may disagree with the suggestion that students have PE class in school. But there is still substantial fatties in campus due to the lack of sufficient exercise. Admittedly, exercise on PE class is notenough for students who are sitting all day around.

By and large, in spite of the merits daily homework has such as improving students’ performance in class and thus helping them attain higher grades, its disadvantages outweigh the merits. If teachers do not assign homework everyday, students will pursuit the enjoyment when joining in engaging after-class  activities and having pleasant conversations with close friends, and ultimately become healthier both mentally and physically.
