<Oil prices: The triple-digit barrel> from <Economist>
Not easy article, because didn't feel related with the topic. First read, didn't get the main point, but knowing the items of each paragraph talking about. Second read, knowing what is the article talking about, however still didn't find the main point. Third read, found the main point, but not sure. Need catch up this area, oil, economy, and world politic.
<Bioterror detection program comes under scrutiny> from <Scientific American>
First read, got the main point, which is at last paragraph and starts with BUT. This structure is very close to gmat reading, and I'm a litter get used to already. Although I didn't know much details about what the articles talked about. When there comes a person name, usually a long title would followed behind, skip this quickly, just pay attention on what he or she said/did. Catch main verb, that's the important one.
OG13 Q37-41
Long article, used a little more than 3mints to finish. This article has two "TWIST" part, in the beginning and ending of the first paragraph. At first glance, I thought the first one is the main point, however the second one actually is the true main point. Thus, need pay attention no every BUT HOWEVER part. This article is also a typical GMAT reading passage. Two paragraph, main point is at the end of the first paragraph, and the second paragraph corroborate the argument presented in the first paragraph.
37-- Still didn't get, why in the correct answer using "first", I didn't find anything about "first" stated in the passage
READ THIS ONE AGAIN IN 10 OR 15 DAYS
OG13 Q42-44
Short article, read in 2 mins. Also, read before in OG12
Q43 (Logical structure: weaken)-- Question ask about "human capital theory", find what is this theory about (the contents), and them attack the "contents" instated of "theory", in this way, it will be more direct. The correct answer seems very subtle, feel quite obvious.
Theory says: women's role in childbearing made them choose occupations that could be carried out at home.
Correct answer choice says: Women were unlikely to work outside the home even in occupations whose hours were flexible enough to allow women to accommodate domestic tasks….
Theory: women are forced to choose work at home
Choice: women were unlikely to work outside --> no body force them, their own willing
Thus, if "Choice" is true, then "theory" is false.
If the question ask "Which of the following, if true, would….", I need think all the answer choices are true solid evidence, make judgment starts from the answer choice, then see if this affect the statement in question. Choice attacks question! |
