请WHARTON的校友帮忙： 去WHARTON读MBA前要准备什么呢？可以推荐些之前应该看的书，应该学习的知识吗？看见DARDEN校友推荐看会计啊，学EXCEL什么的。

或者有什么书，是需要从国内带过去的？多谢！

academics stuff is a kind of preparation. accounting, finance, whatever you want. but more importantly is to exactly think clearly what you want to achieve in two years and what you want to pursue professionally.

basically from my perspective finance PhD and MBA would have different career directions, one more focused on research and academics and another more on business side.

which direction to go depends on your interest and passion. do have more retrospection and find out what you really want to achieve.

恳请指教, 我应该留在美国还是回国发展呢, 为以后的MBA申请:

我的情况: 国内一般重点大学毕业, 美国三流大学经济学PHD, 以前在国内做过一年证券分析和投资, 去年毕业后在美国一小公司里面作市场研究分析, 目前是研究小组的小头目

GMAT: 750+, 本科GPA:3.7, GRADUATE SCHOOL: 3.9

同时在考CFA LEVEL 3和CMA, 估计八月之前都能拿到. 读MBA是我一直以来的心愿, 尤其是FINANCE方面的, 现在对PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT是疯狂着迷了, 希望能去WHARTON或者COLUMBIA这样的学校里面再去充电, 将来好去GOLDMAN SACHS或者MORGAN STANLEY这样的IB.

由于对目前的工作不满意, 一直在到处联系, 现在在国内有一个很好的基金公司的OFFER, 要我夏天回去. 说实话, 这工作我很喜欢, 因为是直接作PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT的, 而且在国内提升的机会很多. 但是不知道国内的经验对于申请WHARTON这样的学校有用与否

大家觉得我应该怎么作呢? 是留在现在的美国小公司申请, 还是回国然后再申呢?如果想申请WHARTON的话,我还需要至少多少年的工作经验?此外, 美国PHD的经验对于我申请MBA是有害还是有弊呢, 恳请各位大侠指教

Actually no one exactly knows which one is better, how long WE is enough or optimal. my suggestion is to follow your own spirit and passion, to do what really motivate you and stay focused.

PhD make no difference in your applicaiton, what you need to do is to think over very carefully about why you made every transition and critical decisions in your life, what is your motivation and aspiration and what can wharton or other schools help you achieve goals.

i guess the b-school application is not that difficult if you clearly know, at least let admission officer clearly know, who you are, what you want to achieve and what is your step to do.

请问租房子, on campus or off campus, which one is better?

to admiral,

it depends on your priority. if you want to spend more time in social activities, living in center city would be more convenient, and if you want to focus on study and shorten the commute time, campus is a plus.

i am in center city, it is pretty convenient back and forth between center city and campus. plus, more percentage of Chinese students are living in center city as well.
