Some people prefer to live in small town. Others prefer to live in a big city.
Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Whether it's better to live in the small town is a controversial issue, which has drawn me a lot of attention recently. Different people hold different opinions. However, to some extent, I am inclined to favor the point that living in the small town is much better in the big city. In addition, my argument will be greatly strengthened and confirmed by the subsequent considerations and grounds.

To begin with, the most important reason is that living in the small town is much better to our physical health. On the basis of the common sense, small town enjoys distinct environmental advantages over the big town, where is full of many kinds of populations, say, water pollution and sound pollution, and those advantages will largely contribute to the health of people who live in the small town. In addition, the small town also has a lower crime rate than that in the in big city. Also, the result of one recent investigation led by my professor, which compares the data from dozens of major cities and small towns in the world, suggests that the crime rate in big city is almost twice higher than that in small town in average. Hence, the idea I claimed early is supported by the empirical statistics.

Furthermore, another reason, which inspires me to choose this argument, is that people in the small town are much more likely to have the spiritual satisfaction than people in large city. By contrast with the small town, large city is much nosier and more crowed, which limit the imagination of the people in the large city. Moreover, it's found that people in the large city often have a quicker pace of lifestyle than that in small town. That quick and busy life style, which leaves virtually no time to relax, does a lot of harm and pressure to people in the city, where many mental illness derive. On the contrary, it's much better for people to live in the small town, where people can enjoy their lives in the atmosphere of leisure.

To sum up, some people may contend that my argument still suffers from some drawbacks and problems, for example, it's less convenient in small town rather than in big town, due to the fewer public facilities. However, in my opinion, with the focus of small town from the government and the development of the small town, this kind of problem won't worry the people in the small town anymore. Therefore, thanks to the reasons and evidences mentioned above, it's safe to come to the conclusion I support.

The writer of the passage argues that due to several reasons,  the growing market of fossil trade will do harm to the general public, scientists and the fossils themselves. However, the lecturer disagrees with that. In addition, he contends that the theories mentioned in the reading are somewhat unconvincing and unpersuasive as they stand.

First of all, those sales will actually increase the public interests to the fossils. On the basis of the speaker, with the help of the sale, some organizations which are less interested in the fossils before, such as primary schools, high schools and so forth, have a chance to buy those fossils. As a result, they will become more and more interested in the fossils rather than loss their interests. And this directly contradicts and refutes the theory suggested in the passage.

Secondly, scientists still have the access to all the fossils in the museums and the private collectors. The author takes for granted that during those sale processes, the fossils are impossible to pass through the scientists' hands. However, there is no guarantee that this is the case. In fact, according to the speaker, it's only the scientists that can estimate and indentify those fossils in the sale. Therefore, scientists won't miss any fossils during those sales.

Thirdly, on the contrary to the reading, the advantages concerning the private collection of fossils far outweigh those disadvantages. In other words, it's much worse for scientists that there are only few fossils discovered underground than that there are many fossils with some damages to some of those fossils.

The advice you take from friends who are older than you is valuable than that from the friends who are at your age.
Agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
没有想好什么理由,其实第一二点理由都是差不多的...

Whether the advice from older friends is more valuable than that from the friends at your age is a controversial issue, which has drawn me a lot of attention. Different people may have different opinions. However, to some extent, I am inclined to favor the point that advice from older friends is really more valuable and useful to us than that from friends who are at your age. In addition, my argument will be greatly strengthened and confirmed by the subsequent considerations and grounds.

To begin with, the most significant reason for my viewpoint is that advice from older friends are much more valuable because of older friends have experienced more than those friends at your age. By contrast with friends at your age, older friends have abundant life experiences, which guarantee the advice from older friends contain all aspects needed to consider, and even the similar situation like yours. Therefore, those large amounts of life experiences make the older friends' suggestions more attractive to you than those from friends at your age

Furthermore, another reason, which inspires me to choose this argument, is that older friends are generally much more objective and knowledgeable than those friends at your age.
Take me as an example. Many friends at my age, say, 20 to 22 years old, are just in a hurry to make decisions and only emphasize the short and visible benefits when give me advice. On the contrary, my older friends, who are 10 years older than me in average, always prepare a lot and take into all possible consequences before they make most decisions and give me advice. Hence, according to the analysis above, why not follow those advice considered carefully and thoroughly from my older friends?

To sum up, although there is no doubt that my standpoint still suffers from some drawbacks or problems, for example, people at the same age are more easily to communicate, advantages of my argument far outweigh those disadvantages. Therefore, I conclude that advice from older friends is really more valuable and useful to us than that from friends who are at your age. In addition, thanks to the evidences and reasons above, it's safe to come to the conclusion I support.

The only effective way to encourage energy conservation is by increasing prices of gasoline and electricity.
Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Whether increasing prices of gasoline and electricity is the only effective way to encourage energy conservation is a controversial issue, which has drawn me a lot of attention recently. Different people might hold different opinions. However, to some extent, I am inclined to favor the point that raising the price alone doesn't appear useful as it stands and on the other hand, combined with some other alternatives, price rise may work better. In addition, my argument will be greatly confirmed and strengthened by the subsequent considerations and grounds.

To begin with, increasing the price of gasoline and electricity alone can not guarantee the conservation of energy use. The most significant reason is that most people have already had plenty of energy consuming equipment or substances, say, automobiles propelled by gas and the heating equipment powered by electricity, which rely only on the gasoline or electricity energy and it's impossible to stop the people's use of those equipment they using everyday. For example, large majority of people in the city have to use their cars everyday even though the price of gasoline increases. Therefore, for their convenient daily life, they won't conserve any of those energy uses when facing the price-raising issue. On the contrary, the rise of gasoline price has the negative influence on people, because of the increased cost of living caused by the rise of gasoline price.

Furthermore, in my opinion, the solution mentioned above may gain a much predictable and suitable result when combined with some other alternatives. Among those other methods, the most effective way may be the technology development of the energy consuming equipment. For example, with the new technology which increases the efficiency of energy consuming, automobiles that go the same distance are able to consume less gasoline now than before. Moreover, with the increasing price of gasoline, the new technology appears much more attractive to people who may tend to purchase the cars with new technology and do the energy conservation job.

To sum up, there is no doubt that there are some advantages concerning the method that raising the price of gasoline and electricity. However, the drawbacks and problems of that method far outweigh those advantages. Hence, it's safe to come to the conclusion I support.

Whether the advice from older friends ismore valuable than that from the friends at your age (ornot)is a controversial issue(whether句读着有些别扭, 不知道这样改下对不对^_^), which has drawn me a lot of attention(不需要用完成时吧?因为下面文章也是在讨论这个话题). Different people may havedifferent opinions. However, to some extent, I am inclined to favor the pointthat advice from older friends is really more valuable and useful to us thanthat from friends who are at your ourage. Furthermore, another reason, which inspires me to choose this argument, is that older friends are generally much more objective and knowledgeable than those friends at your age.

(开头虽然表明了观点,但是not concise and neat, 我不知道从哪里下手,总之很有模板的痕迹啊^^)

To begin with, increasing the price of gasoline and electricity alone can not guarantee the conservation of energy use. The most significant reason is that most people have already had plenty of energy consuming equipment or substances, say, automobiles propelled by gas and the heating equipment powered by electricity, which rely only on the gasoline or electricity energy and it's impossible to stop the people's use of those equipment they (are) using everyday. For example, large majority of people in the city have to use their cars everyday even though the price of gasoline increases. Therefore, for their convenient daily life, they won't conserve any of those energy uses when facing the price-raising issue.(Consequently, it is unreasonable to claim that people from urban areas would cut down the utilization of petroleum merely because of the higher price, for residents in city are accustomed to the convenience brought by automobiles) On the contrary, the rise of gasoline price has the negative influence on people, because of (due to/owing to)the increased cost of living caused by the rise of gasoline price.

Furthermore, in my opinion, the solution mentioned above may gain a much predictable and suitable result when combined with some other alternatives. Among those other methods, the most effective way may be the technology development( research and development ,研发,这里用研发挺合适的吧) of the energy consuming equipment.

To sum up, there is no doubt (建议不要一直用从句啊,比如这里用undoubtedly/indiputably/undeniably,admittedly ,granted,可以使句子显得不头重,同时丰富了句式,你觉得呢?)that there are some advantages concerning the method that raising the price of gasoline and electricity. However, the drawbacks and problems of that method far outweigh(缺点比优势更重要?? are you kidding me ) those advantages. Hence, it's safe to come to the conclusion I support.(感觉没说完的样子,建议加同位语从句补充下吧)

ps:初次改作文啊,不足之处多多原谅,同时也发现了不少自己在写作中的毛病,互相学习吧!!

It is better to spend money on something that lasts for a long time, such as
an expensive piece of jewelry or spend on something that provides a short-term pleasure such as a vacation?

From time to time, there are always many people who are willing to pay a great amount of money for some expensive things, such as diamond, crystal and etc, which can last such as long time, partly because those expensive stuffs can manifest the high social status. However, to some extent, I am inclined to favor the point that it's much better to spend money on a short-term pleasure, say, vocation and party. In addition, my argument will be confirmed and strengthened by the subsequent considerations and grounds.

To begin with, unlike the thought most believed that short-term pleasure can not exist longer than some expensive jewelry, those short-term pleasures do last as long as the so-called permanent things, or even longer. The reason is that after experiencing short-term pleasure, people will make those experiences solid in mind as memories, which can last the whole life of a person. What's more, some people might write those short-term pleasures down as diary, having the same function as those expensive things. In addition, by contrast to something expensive, memories in mind can be recalled or reminded of anytime and anywhere during people's lives.

Furthermore, during the short-term pleasure, like vocations and parties, people are not only able to have fun themselves, but also able to develop the relationships with others, say, friends, relatives, and the loved ones and collect some useful and valuable information from others. For example, in my adult party, one of my friends shared his journey of a small island with me. And half a year later, I followed his advice and found my most fantastic and wonderful experience there. However, on the contrary, the luxuries which can last a long period of can only entertain people themselves. So, owing to the more enjoyable consequences the short-term pleasure can gain, why not choosing the short-term pleasure rather than the expensive things?

To sum up, there is no doubt that my viewpoint still suffers from some drawbacks and problems, for instance, it may be more difficult to keep different people in the vocation or party satisfied and pleasant, or even worse, different opinions probably result in unnecessary and unhappy quarrel happened. However, thanks to the reasons and evidences mentioned above, my point of view enjoys a advantage, which far outweighs those disadvantages. Therefore, it's safe to come to the conclusion I support.
