Just finished Kellogg Alumni interview today. I have to say that it is a mixed feeling. My impression was that the alumni was kind of busy and wanted to close this interview very quickly since he did say things like "let's put this to a quick end".
The interview was done in his office and I was a little bit nervous since he was a serious guy. no special questions but he went directly to the questions of Why MBA now, Why Kellogg (no resume walk through). He seemed not convinced by my answer on Why MBA now and raised another question on it "if you could find a job close to your short-term goal right now, do you still want an MBA?" ... I said that my intent for an MBA is not just for something I could get in my next job, it is about getting a broader vision and meeting with a bunch of great people blablabla...
I have to say that I am a very spontaneous person and I need to get sparks from someone who is passionate and interactive. But somehow I couldn't find in this alumni. Maybe it has sth to do with the place (a close, quiet room in office). Feeling that he would like to see the end asap, I just asked one question. Cross my finger now ...
There will be another Kellogg event in Shanghai on the 17th!
For details please refer to the separate post on that event. There will be current students as well as alums present to answer questions as well as a presentation about Kellogg.
I found in Kellogg website this" To provide a unique way for Kelloggians interested in volunteering their services to help the...". Does this mean that in Kellogg community, you sometimes call your guys Kelloggians as a nickname?
Just some curious!
BTW: glad to know the turnaround event. Thanks for your efforts!
For those of you coming to the Shanghai event, please note there is a time change. Thanks to the kindness of our sponsor and alums, it is now 6:00PM - 7:00PM. Hope it will make it easier for folks coming. See you on Friday!
BTW "Kelloggian" is a term just like "Ohioan", "New Yorker", and "Michiganian", not a nickname, and it is not that popular as far as I know
I did not find the venue of the Kellogg shanghai event. Can anyone tell me that? I am preparing the application package and wants to understand more of Kellogg's specialites.
besides, to catch the 2nd round, should I mail the transcript now? someone told me too early would meet the X'mas chaos during which many mails got lost. but after that sounds too late for me.
3. You have been selected as a member of the Kellogg Admissions Committee. Please provide a brief evaluative assessment of your file. (one to two pages double-spaced)
one to two pages sound elaborative instead of brief to me ! but difficult thing is from which angle i need put words together. What's the main purpose of this topic? just try to do self-evaluation objectively?
Thanks for your help here. What I would like to know is:
I submitted the application part 1 by end of Nov, but still haven't received the interview invitation yet. I am quite concerned about whether it could be conducted before Jan 7. Shall I still keep waiting or contact the adcom now?
It's a pity that due to conflict timing with my company's Xmas party yesterday, I didn't go to Shanghai event. So missed the chance to talk with more Kellogg alumni in person. Are there any other methods?
