The HSM program is a concentration within the Fuqua MBA program. There are 3 required courses and 2 electives for the program. The first is a required one week course that you can take either in the summer before school starts or between your first and second year.
The second is a required seminar series where leaders in the health sector come and talk about a specific topic in their industry. Some examples of the speakers, if you are interested in the pharma industry, include: William Weldon, CEO, J&J; Dan Sullivan, District Manager, Eli Lilly; David Sugano, VP, Schering-Plough; Judy Lewent, CFO, Merck, etc.
The final required course is Economics of Health Care. After that, you need to take 2 other electives from a pool of courses to satisfy the HSM program requirement. In total, the HSM program takes up approx. 12 credits, so you still have plenty of opportunities to take other courses electives in areas such as Finance or Marketing.
Fuqua's HSM program is older than any other similiar programs in top MBA programs and regarded as the best in the country. So if you are interested in the health sector, Fuqua would be a great fit and you should definitely voice this in your essays.
Btw, I am a first year MBA student in the HSM program. |
