错选了A，之前的解释和整句的语义都可以理解，只是B选项中两个并列的修饰成分修饰course中间不是应该用and连接吗，这样直接用逗号连接是不是有点不合语法？

给的答案是B，D为什么错啊？make up和make up for都可以表示弥补。看了一个国外的GMAT论坛，也有人说答案应该是D，困惑了。。。

第二个 这个是one of 复数名词 that ，that指代lakes，与only one区分开
第三个 whatever就不对

谢谢楼上的回答，但是还是有些疑惑。
第一个 不用and 而用逗号连接两个并列形容词定语合法吗？
第二个 but在这里作何解释？
第三个 whatever不对应该指的不是语法上不对吧，语义上理解成“不论他在技术层面上缺乏什么都可以被他的热情所弥补”感觉也没什么问题啊。。。

第一个，这种不加连词的表达应该也对吧，主要是其它的答案都不对！
第二个，but在这里不是only的意思！所以后面的谓语动词要用单数！
第三个，要忠实原文啊！！！不能你主观的觉得用whatever也可以！你用whatever与原文的意思都不一样了！
GMAT的SC是要你选相比之下最优的选项，而不是叫你一味记死的语法！！....个人意见
