1. IB (especially US background IBs) don't really care about your major. Bear in mind that many top colleges in the States DO NOT have finance major in undergrads/grads (like Harvard, Princeton...). I would say Econ, Acct and things related to finance would be ok. Among my colleagues, some are Econ-background, many of them are engineering background...only a few study Finance at school.

2. In France, recruiters care more about which school you go to, some jobs in financial market prefer people with engin/math background, but should not be the case for corporate finance.

Don't get me wrong. I do like Party, hanging out with friends in some cozy restaurants/bars is good.

To be clear, party is for fun, not for networking. I know you guys heard about stories like a guy bumped into one top executive of XYZ company in a party and they hit it off, and the guy's life changes...but the chance is slim. Many parties in French schools are drinking/dancing like crazy, it's super fun, and some people get laid after the a few vodka, superb! But it's for relaxing, partying occasionally is great. But going to parties every night and going to school with hangover the next day, will not get you a godd job.

If you are talking about getting a good job, there is fine balance between hard-work & social. Some social events are great opportunities for networking, like school's external speakers lecture with cocktail followed, some luncheons of xyz associations....

Hi , Derman. 一直想问一个问题，但是有比较没有底气，不知道怎么问才好。 简单的说，背景青岛科技大学，非211. 专业：船舶与海洋工程，非商科相关专业。GPA 3.5  gmat 700  雅思 7.0  对法国高商情有独钟。想问一下如果以这样的背景，又没有相关工作经验的话，申前五，甚至巴黎三大，能有几成的成功率~~~！？？   求指点~！！

Thank your for your reply, but sorry I didn't get you clearly. In short, you mean that if I wanna find a job in IB in France, it would be ok if don't major in Finance but in other majors. Am I right?

想请问楼主，我现在准备申第一批的essec和sai，目前gmat720，雅思6.5，因为想申奖学金而且还有段时间，所以想刷分，现在不知道雅思到底有没有必要再考一遍，高分有助于申奖还是只要过6.5就不再作参考？因为两个都刷事情多分心，还要准备文书，所以想请楼主帮忙给主意。

请教Derman哥哥，小白一枚求指导。如果现在在BNP国内分行做实习，以后去到法国那边会不会更有优势？就是开始念高商第一学期10月左右投第二年的类似BNP，SG之类的实习？目前正在做Back Office最基本的Payment&Loan（因为用的是一个内部系统，后台处理我猜想方式类似，不知实际和法国区别大不大？求证~）谢谢啦~
