大全568

568Originally published in 1950, Some Tame Gazelle was Barbara Pym’s first novel, but it does not read like an apprentice work.

(A) does not read like an apprentice work

(B) seems not to read as an apprentice work

(C) does not seem to read as an apprentice work would

(D) does not read like an apprentice work doesA

(E) reads unlike an apprentice work

how do you judge between A and B?  I have tried to find the answer, but nobody has disgussed it

like+n表比较:"象...",而as+n.表示"作为",放在这里明显意思不对. 根据这个就排除B,C.like后不接句子,D排除.对于like否定应该前置,用does not like而不是unlike,E排除.所以A对.

一点拙见

24.X GWD-8-Q14:

Studies in restaurants show that the tips left by customers who pay their bill in cash tend to be larger when the bill is presented on a tray that bears a credit-card logo.  Consumer psychologists hypothesize that simply seeing a credit-card logo makes many credit-card holders willing to spend more because it reminds them that their spending power exceeds the cash they have immediately available.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the psychologists’ interpretation of the studies?

  1. The effect noted in the studies is not limited to patrons who have credit cards.

  2. Patrons who are under financial pressure from their credit-card obligations tend to tip less when presented with a restaurant bill on a tray with credit-card logo than when the tray has no logo.

  3. In virtually all of the cases in the studies, the patrons who paid bills in cash did not possess credit cards.

  4. In general, restaurant patrons who pay their bills in cash leave larger tips than do those who pay by credit card.
这题偶前两天做错的,谢谢楼上两位JJ,解释的很清楚,现在豁然开朗.又弄明白一题,

MM对那题语法解释很好的。我也认为as + n.在这里是“作为”的意思的。

不过我从MM那里学了怎么分析一个语法问题,如何用一个明显的语法错误,排除不肯能的选项。

我只是用比较偷懒的办法把选项排除了.

发觉偶和JJ可以互补哟,语法+逻辑,呵呵,一起提高啊

如果B说的是seems not as an apprentice work,那感觉还差不多。这个to有‘去读’的意思,我觉得放在这里,意思上是不对的。而A说的是那本书读起来不像个学徒生写的书。不过我一开始觉得A也少东西,比如说appretince's work什么的,但是看了其他的,也没得选。就A了。

i think     seem  to be     is no preoblem   seem to be    and   seem     is the same

you can say   he seems reding a lot     or   he seems to be reding a lot       or

he seems like his father    he seems to be like his father

同baby一样,我也觉得A应该是appretince's work什么的,但是看了其他选项中都没有这个表到,也就选A了。

这个用法和"看起来不像...does not look like....是一样的表达法.

appretince work  I think this is either adjective or a compound noun   such as    coffee cap       sun class

when we combine two nouns together, some we have to pu    of     between them or use apostrophe  for example

leg of table  ( you saw a table with leg, they are not seperated)    teacher's book

but some are not     table leg ( you just saw a table leg  which is seperated from whole table)   text book

I 'll look up it in dictrionary.

I think problem for this question probably as you said  in      as

I  think i have to check it

这题看了大家的解释,想了很久还是不懂,后来看了sunny说的心里学家的解释主要是说:credit logo对于用户的消费起到暗示作用。这才发现自己理解的WILLING 是想付钱的意思,而应该理解成意愿或心愿或叫暗示也行,就通了。

哎,还是理解能力问题。不过,谢谢大家的热心解答。昨天一忙功课,少上一天CD发现自己拉下很多。

seem to be很口语话。你能找出书面ETS用这个的例子吗?我没有找过。如果能找到很普遍的,那就可以。另外,还是觉得seem to be like和seem like味道不一样

157.Balzac drank more than fifty cups of coffee a day and died of caffeine poisoning; furthermore, caffeine did not seem to bother Samuel Johnson, the great writer and lexicographer, who was reported to have drunk twenty-five cups of tea at one sitting.
(B) however, caffeine did not seem to bother
(C) however, caffeine did not seem to have bothered
     答案是B,

I think  the usage of  seem to be and seem  simply depend on what comes next. if it is a state verb such as love , want, you can only use he seems to love her we can't say he seems love her . if the following is adj  or normal verb we can use both

he seems good at singing   he seem to be good at singing

he seems playing badminton    he seem to be playing badminton

I looked up dictionary     apprentice is noun and verb   so i think apprentice work is a compound noun, but for us, it is hard to judge which is compound noun and which we have to use of  or apostrophe . there are no specific rules for it.
