Prep题目
1. In a certain wildlife park, park rangers areable to track the movements of many rhinoceroses because those animals wearradio collars.  When, as often happens, acollar slips off, it is put back on. Putting a collar on a rhinoceros involves immobilizing the animal byshooting it with a tranquilizer dart. Female rhinoceroses that have been frequently recollared havesignificantly lower fertility rates than uncollared females.  robably, therefore, some substance in thetranquilizer inhibits fertility.
In evaluating the argument, it would be mostuseful to determine which of the following?
Key: How often park rangers need to usetranquilizer darts to immobilize rhinoceroses for reasons other than attachingradio collars

2. In the year following an eight-cent increasein the federal tax on a pack of cigarettes, sales of cigarettes fell tenpercent.  In contrast, in the year priorto the tax increase, sales had fallen one percent.  The volume of cigarette sales is thereforestrongly related to the after-tax price of a pack of cigarettes.
Which of the following, if true, would moststrengthen the argument above?
Key: The information available to consumers onthe health risks of smoking remained largely unchanged in the period before andafter the tax increase.

3. Which of the following most logicallycompletes the argument?
According to experts on shopping behavior, more shoppers would shop at Jerrod’s department store if they were offered theconvenience of shopping carts.  In fact, even if the amount spent by these additional customers only just covered thecost of providing the carts, providing carts would still probably increaseJerrod’s profits, since _______.
Key: a customer with a shopping cart buys more, onaverage, than a customer without a cart

4. Which of the following most logicallycompletes the argument below?
Twenty percent of the stores inMorganville's downtown shopping district will fail within five years becausethey will be competing directly with the SaveMart discount department store newlyopened in East Morganville.  The downtown shopping district has lostbusiness at this rate before and has always completely rebounded.  Confidence that it will rebound again fromthe losses it is now about to suffer is ill founded, however, because__________.
Key: the stores likely to be put out of businessby direct competition from SaveMart are the downtown shopping district's anchorstores, on whose ability to draw shoppers many of the other downtown storesdepend

The following appeared in the editorial sectionof a local newspaper:

“This past winter, 200 students from WaymarshState College traveled to the state capitol building to protest againstproposed cuts in funding for various state college programs. The other 12,000Waymarsh students evidently weren’t so concerned about their education: theyeither stayed on campus or left for winter break. Since the group who did notprotest is far more numerous, it is more representative of the state’s collegestudents than are the protesters. Therefore the state legislature need not heedthe appeals of the protesting students.”

Female rhinoceroses that have been frequently recollared havesignificantly lower fertility rates than uncollared females.  robably, therefore, some substance in the tranquilizer inhibits fertility.
In evaluating the argument, it would be most useful to determine which of the following?

Key: How often park rangers need to usetranquilizer darts to immobilize rhinoceroses for reasons other than attachingradio collars
Female rhinoceroses that have been frequently recollared 和uncollared females对比。

Which of the following, if true, would moststrengthen the argument above?

Key: The information available to consumers on the health risks of smoking remained largely unchanged in the period before and after the tax increase.

Which of the following most logicallycompletes the argument?
According to experts on shopping behavior, more shoppers would shop at Jerrod’s department store if they were offered theconvenience of shopping carts.  In fact, even if the amount spent by these additional customers only just covered the cost of providing the carts, providing carts would still probably increase Jerrod’s profits, since _______.

Key: a customer with a shopping cart buys more, onaverage, than a customer without a cart

Conclusion: It is the substance in T that inhibit fertility
Premise: THose who have been injected T shows lower fertility rates

Evaluate: 我的第一想法是:Is there any 犀牛 that does not got injection but still show low fertility rates?

2. 30s
Conclusion: THe decline in sales is largely caused by the tax
Premise: Before tax  1% sale decrease, after the tax 10% decrease

Strengthen: No other changes..

3. 28s
Conclusion: Even if the increased number of people just offset the cost of providing carts, it would be profitable for the market to offer shopping carts

Since: They got other ways to boost sales.

5.[1] the other 12000 W students did not participate does not reflect they are not concerned their education, they may take other actions.
[2] the did not protest  is more numerous does not mean they are representative, there may be a lot of people want to protest but considering some reasons, they give up.
[3] the 200 students is not a small number, the number is larger than any protest in recent years.
