I think here what is COMPLICATED is how professors choose students' reading list.(Had there been a specialized one volume reference book, professors would have put more challenging material into students' reading list. BUT since there is no such a book, professors have to
select readings for their courses that are not too challenging for students unfamiliar with Asian
American history and culture. This complicates their work.
