I think your chances at the top5 are slim, to be honest. For others, you should ask your advisor. Similarly, as an undergrad program Berkeley is barely top20, but for PhD admission, it is probably one of the top10.

或者你可以问问dichev和rajgopal他们心里的phd program排名，这个比dallas的那个还是靠铺多了， paper发的多不见得被faculty认为是好学校。

我自己脑袋里面的排名，呵呵

emory商学院的所有grad program都比不上undergrad吧。。。undergrad的acct好像排名还满前的~不过你说的acc phd top20是指什么排名？

For PhD program, its all about placement. I think this is especially true for accounting, as I suppose it is hard for accountant to flourish on wallstreet. But again, accounting has the best b-school placement of all the programs.

大家都好懂的样子~~~我都不太懂。。。
既然各个acct program录的时候不会看本科排名~那也不会很在乎我们emory的b-school不strong吧？
感觉每个人心里都有各自的top 5,top10~我都有点晕了呵呵~placement这个东西也没有什么统计说哪个学校特别好之类的吧~
我们一般b-school都是看businessweek~不过也很难讲哪个比较权威。。。

反正现在我也没什么其他能做的了~课也都定下来了。。。就努力考考好gmat做好research...谢谢各位了！

你要补的课很多，先把精化区看一看吧

你可以看看他们的简历，和发的paper。如果还是感觉不到为什么他们牛，留在emory应该就是你最好的选择了。

If LZ can get strong letters from Dichev，Rajgopal, Basu or Waymire, I can say her chance of getting into Chicago is very close to 1. However, given the information from LZ, I would now say top 10-30 programs is probably more likely, schools like UCLA, USC, Maryland or Minnesota.

I don't think this is a good idea. If you are not from super-elite like Princeton or Columbia, you chances at these schools are not good.

你这背景和你这个professor讨论一下吧，
如果她在圈内很有名又愿意大力推荐你，就申Chicago, Wharton, MIT，Stanford和Kellogg最多加你们本校保底（如果你们学校不在其中）其他的根本不用。

她负责我们自己学校的accounting phd招生。。。所以我不知道和她讨论这个合不合适。。。
下次meet的时候问问她~要是她能基本保证我进我们学校的program~那我就安心多了。。。

没啥不好意思的，教授如果愿意帮你写推荐信，当然希望你能申请上，能理解你投很多所学校的心情。

至于保底学校，最好找教授。有的教授会和一些学校招生的教授比较熟悉，用那些学校保底。我个人觉得保底学校不能少于三所。
