what i was talking about applying more means applying more top schools. I think she will have good chance in top 10 if the "she" she mentioned is either from Australia or Taiwan. But sometimes, luck is more important.

如果她在圈内很有名又愿意大力推荐你，就申Chicago, Wharton, MIT，Stanford和Kellogg最多加你们本校保底（如果你们学校不在其中）其他的根本不用。

我还没有和我跟着做research的教授谈过关于选校的事情。
她负责我们自己学校的accounting phd招生。。。所以我不知道和她讨论这个合不合适。。。
下次meet的时候问问她~要是她能基本保证我进我们学校的program~那我就安心多了。。。

没啥不好意思的，教授如果愿意帮你写推荐信，当然希望你能申请上，能理解你投很多所学校的心情。

至于保底学校，最好找教授。有的教授会和一些学校招生的教授比较熟悉，用那些学校保底。我个人觉得保底学校不能少于三所。

I think only three schools in the top20 have accounting programs, penn, mit, and berkeley.

Anyways, you need a strong recommender who is influential. If you have that, just apply to all top10 and 2 backups in the top10-20 range.

No. He had two guesses on who your advisor is. Ignore it. Is your advisor a chaired professor? If so you are in good shape. Also given your GPA you can't be from MIT, and people from penn usually consider themselves as top10. So my guess is berkeley?

我是说本科综合排名的前20的学校~
大家不要猜了吧。。。我是emory的。。。我们b-school的BBA program只在businessweek排比较好~usnews好像不太好~

that is also what i guessed. I thought she was from usc, although usc is not top 20, but it could be also berkeley, although people from berkeley won't say they are from top 20 school.

is the acc phd program director of emory not Dichev? I think he is the biggest guy in your school.

Thanks. the school information is important because it gives a sense of how strong the b-school faculties there are, and how much they can push you.

In this case, given your b-school is not super strong, I would apply to schools across top20 (given you have at least one chaired professor supporting eagerly supporting you), and a few back ups. I am not exactly sure how competitive accounting is compared to finance (which is the field I pursue), but this is what I would do if I were in your shoes.

I don't think this is a good idea. If you are not from super-elite like Princeton or Columbia, you chances at these schools are not good.

Dichev?他没有很牛吧~才来了一个学期~是来顶原来一个prof的位置的。。。
上学期刚上完他的课~感觉一般。。。人也不是很approachable
Rajgopal也只来了一年。。。听说人不错~不过他不教undergrad所以没机会认识~
他们俩都不管phd program~
phd主要是pownall在管~kertz好像也take turn~
