Yes, i quite agree with what you've said. However, as i have said, i plan to go back to China and find a job.  I dont think most of the HRs in China can think in the "American Way".    I try to find the most suitable program, not the best.  i think it would not be impossible that you learn many things and have a lot of ability but are rejected by the company just because "Sorry, we dont know your school  very well"  

I have spent a lot in getting my latest internship and most of the interns are from those Top 5 schools.(i'm not from top 5)  I asked the HR and got the answer "we only recruit students from T, P, R, F.... if there's no other consideration.  You may feel very upset just as what i felt when i heard this. However, soon i began to understand: If you can not judge whether  this guy can be competent for this job, the school he graduated from would be a very important measurement .

No difference....no HR in big company will select you base on school
The web application does, for JHU and Vandy, they are treated the same in the system. You can try to regiester for an interview , and see...I guess you will get internview for both or neither from a same company

论质量应该还是Vandy吧...JHU的确回国名气大一点点，不过如果Vandy录了我，必须不解释从了它...

I have attended several job fairs and interviews myself. I have never seen a single company which does not care about the graduate school of the applicants.   Even those top US schools begin to choose the applicants from China based on their undergraduate school when they face too many applications. How could i believe that there's no difference between the two schools regarding their overall fame?

I have done my own survey. One of my friends studying in Brown didnt know vandy and told me three days later after she used the google search that she knew vandy is in Tene.... My mentor in the school knows Vandy because Vandy ranks top in education.   My friends major in economics and international relations all know JHU.  It's hard to say but even my grandpa knows JHU because he said he always found its name on the newspaper...

Regiset for two aplicants, they are all same except: one is from JHU, one is from Vandy...
You will see the result
BTW,i am talking about online recuiring. There are nothing to do with People knows or now, it's all about how they code the system

如果你要回国的话，还是看学校名气吧
如果你想在美国找intern或者full time，去哪所都不太可能
来jhu campus recruit的80%需要citizenship，15%需要green card/citizenship, 大概就5%（intel, microsoft, EPIC, google这类公司) sponsor h1b，正是因为JHU靠近DC，你会看到department of state, homeland security, defense, government contractor等等的都来招工，嗯跟金融都没什么关系，很多还要背景调查和问你父母是不是公民

可以理解lz对于学校名气的纠结。事实上我申请了JHU，也有过类似的纠结。
但是学校名气对于现在国内企业招聘时的作用，仅限于简历关。
因此我认为选择一个项目时，除了考虑名气，项目质量和专业方向适合你，能否提升你的软实力，也是需要考虑的。我觉得lz目前完全只考虑综排，不考虑项目本身的思路可能稍微偏激了一些。
就我在美工作的亲戚反馈，JHU的商学院在美国没有知名度，我想也某些程度上反映了这个商学院目前的实力。另外，DC是政治中心，金融业的工作机会有多少我不得而知。如果是JHU和综排较后的学校做比较，我觉得可能更能认同lz的思路一些。而Vandy的名气和项目质量更均衡一些，也是很好的选择。lz不妨从其他角度，比如课程设置，专业方向，师资，学生pool，career service，再做些比较。
