Plantings of cotton bioengineered to produce its own insecticide against bollworms, a major cause of crop failure, sustained little bollworm damage until this year. 1.生物工程种植的棉花产生杀虫剂---直到今年杀虫剂失效
2.However,B没有产生抗药性
3.以玉米为食的B因为corn的扩大规模种植而增加

-----所以得出,棉花是被以玉米为食的B damage的

B是说要看不产生杀虫剂的棉花今年有没有遭受大规模的damage

这和结论有神马关系?

B选项是来评价后半句的。如果普通棉花今年被毁坏得跟往年差不多,说明害虫今年突然进化了,发展出了抗药性;如果普通棉花今年也突然遭受大规模的毁坏,说明很可能就是玉米地的关系。

我觉得这题很难~~ 我查了好几个人的解释才勉强给自己解释得通~~

害虫进化会使普通棉花遭受更多的damage~?

看到别人的解释,觉得很好贴过来:

原文推理:往年生化改造棉一直不怎么受虫害,今年却死得很惨。改造棉的杀虫素没有失效,所以认为是虫子太多了(simply being overwhelmed)。
B. Whether plantings of cotton that does not produce the insecticide are suffering unusually extensive damage from bollworms this year   看看没有改造过的有没有死得更惨

若有——〉说明改造棉还是比较牛,有抗虫作用,就是因为虫子太多了,加强
若无——》改造棉和普通棉一样受灾说明是改造棉的抗虫能力有了变化,而非虫子太多了,削弱
