研究了一下，似乎应该是
Halley's Comet caused such a worldwide sensation in no other historical sighting as in its return of 1910-1911.
我的选择是D，记得当初选的时候我还比较了C和D，然后选择了D，但是现在回头去看D也觉得怪怪的。。。读了答案以后似乎觉得语法上面是C通顺了，我的D比较的主体是Halley's Comet和its return，这样不对么？语法上来说没有问题啊。
另外正确答案导致such as的使用很奇怪，大家有觉得么？

这个句子是个倒装句，然后看到AS要考虑平行，再根据楼主的理解就完美了。

as比较的话应该是句子结构。那么这段话按照C答案补充完整，是否可以是：
In no other historical sighting did Halley's Comet cause such a worldwide sensation as he did in its return of 1910-1011.

个人觉得~
ABD显然是as作连词，加句子进行比较。那么AB中as从句的主语就是its return，与主句主语H‘s C比较，不一致，所以不对
C中as是状从的省略 as （H's C caused) in its return...

"as" is simply part of the phrase "such ... as"
