For a trade embargo against a particular country to succeed, a high degree of both international accord and ability to prevent goods from entering or leaving that country must be sustained. A total blockade of Patria's ports is necessary to an embargo, but such an action would be likely to cause international discord over the embargo.

The claims above, if true, most strongly support which of the following conclusions?

正确答案: D

最后问两道补充材料的逻辑……

For a trade embargo against a particular country to
succeed, a high degree of both international accord
and ability to prevent goods from entering or leav-
ing that country must be sustained. A total blockade
of Patria's ports is necessary to an embargo, but
such an action would be likely to cause international
discord over the embargo.

The claims above, if true, most strongly support
which of the following conclusions?
(A) The balance of opinion is likely to favor Patria
in the event of a blockade.
(B) As long as international opinion is unanimously
against Patria, a trade embargo is likely to
succeed.
(C) A naval blockade of Patria's ports would ensure
that no goods enter or leave Patria.
(D) Any trade embargo against Patria would be
likely to fail at some time.
(E) For a blockade of Patria's ports to be success-
ful, international opinion must be unani-
mous.

.A company is considering changing its policy concern-
ing daily working hours. Currently, this company
requires all employees to arrive at work at 8 a.m. The
proposed policy would permit each employee to decide
when to arrive—from as early as 6 a.m. to as late as
11 a.m.

The adoption of this policy would be most likely to
decrease employees’ productivity if the employees’
job functions required them to
(A) work without interruption from other employees
(B) consult at least once a day with employees from
    other companies
(C) submit their work for a supervisor’s eventual
    approval
(D) interact frequently with each other throughout
    the entire workday
(E) undertake projects that take several days to
    complete

答案是d,我想问问a为什么错了。如果在一上午都有人在不同的时间来上班就会打扰别人阿。所以a也成立

1. The question asks for a conclusion. E cannot be drawn from the argument. Please understand the question and follow the argument: for X to hold, Y and Z have to be true; however, Y and Z cannot coexist; therefore, X will not hold.

2. You made an assumption that people will interrupt each other when they come to work. Let's not discuss whether it is warranted or not. D does not require any assumption. When people are not there, they cannot interact. One rule in GMAT CR, do not make assumptions, unless it is common sense.
