Congratulations to LZ again~ The dates of interviews are meaningless. It depends on faculty's schedule which changes every year. Usually early schools start in late January and most schools send out interview or campus visit invitation before Feb. Would you please share some information about Tilburg's program and how to excel in Master programs? Guess this will help the new comers most. Thanks so much. -- by 会员 pitty111 (2011/2/20 23:03:06)
OK. I am going to say something about Tilburg's program. Hopefully the faculty will be happy about what I am going to say. Otherwise, I am in big trouble since I am still here in Tilburg!
Tilburg is famous for its economics and business research in Europe. As for accounting research, the only school that dominates us is LBS. The faculties in the Accounting department are extremely good researchers and very approachable and encouraging. Students can learn a lot from them. Moreover, CentER provides scholarships for qualified research master students. Accounting department sometimes provides additional funding. Thus it is a great place to study in.
Besides accounting training, Econometrics training is also great here as the econometrics department in Tilburg University is also excellent. One can also take courses in NAKE, which offers a variety of choices spanning different disciplines. I took time series class from NAKE, which I think is one of the best econometrics classes I have ever taken.
I need to say something about the finance department, too. I am currently affiliated to the finance department. We were told the very first day that we can find people doing research in almost every field of finance. It is a big department. The research here is also excellent.
Getting a PhD in Tilburg is great. PhDs are extremely well paid and one does not need to do RA because PhDs are deemed as employees here. If you are not really doing badly, you can have the opportunity to go on an exchange to qualified universities in the US. We have people go to Stanford, Yale, etc. Both finance and accounting department have placed people in the University of Chicago.
I do not know much about mkt and organization, but I heard that they are fairly good or even better.
As for how to succeed in masters program, I just think one should work hard and interact more with the faculty. BTW, I am just trying to be helpful here. But I am not perfect. A little nicer would be great.
I hope this information helps by any chance. If not, you can always ask the coordinators in Tilburg. |
