didn't pay attention to grammar and stuff. Apologies if there is anything confusing. The most important messages are fine, I guess. At least, I got the dates right~
The problem is the culture. Chicago has quite a few young and productive faculty members, but they rarely co-author with PhD students. The culture there is that PhD students need to be independent thinkers. So, unless you are very creative so that the faculty members think the idea is worthwhile trying, they are not going to co-author with you because you are their RA. Stanford, because of the RA assignment, provides you with more opportunities to see what the faculty members are doing and might be easier for you to find ideas to work with faculty members.
Tilburg is very famous in the U.S., at least in the accounting field. Quite a few Tilburg accounting PhDs land jobs in such famous schools as Chicago and Michigan, so it might not be that very very normal. Also LZ might has done quite a lot research in accounting phD and his personal statement might be very good.
Would you let us know what makes you stand out? From your background, it really looks very very normal Sorry about being straight forward.
