You have 2 repeating words -- "Their wines" and "sell". So, you replace with a pronoun "they" and eliminate second "sell" as it is understandable that it is meant to sell.

Try replacing "are" and "have" in place of "do" in:
"Their wines have been priced to sell and Their wines do sell".

It will not make sense."

the helping verb should be present elsewhere in the sentence.
Wrong: Our cars were designed to inspire envy, and they ARE.
Right: Our cars were designed to inspire envy, and they .QQ.

They DO inspire is fine, but they ARE inspire is not grammatical. For they ARE to work, the
form inspiring would need to be present in the sentence.

这是manhattan的解释    他举这个例子和这个题时一样的  
但是 我没理解 红色字体那部分的意思

可以这么理解，they are discounted to increase sales, and they

个人认为，这里的they应该指的是wines，而sell是个不及物动词，作“促销，热销”解释，英文是“to make people want to buy something”（google查的，懒得翻字典了）。
我的理由是，如果sell是及物动词，则原句应该是wines are priced to be sold，而不是wines are priced to sell，因此这里的动作发出者应该是wines，所以后半句省略的那个sell的动作发出者应该也是wines，因此后半句的主语they是指wines。

这两个问题定下来之后，再看看manhattan的解释（红色部分），就明白了，意思是说如果要省略，一般用have, be, do省略相同时态的动词。在很少的情况下，动词时态可以不同，但是被省略的那个verb必须在句子的另一个地方出现过，而且形式要一模一样（exact verb form）。
这样，咱们再看OG对于选项B的解释，就明白了，它说这里省略的是sell，而不是sold，如果要用have的话必须加sold。因此它的意思是说sold这个形式在句子其他部分没有出现过一模一样的形式，所以不能省略，要省略也只能省略sell。

另外D选项的解释也映证了我的说法，OG说（后半句）如果这里的主语they被省略的话，那逗号也应该省略，我开始怎么也不明白这两个都省略以后是什么结构，现在知道了，因为这个they就是指wines，所以其实逗号和they是可以同时省略的。

整句话的意思是说，“他们的酒被定（在一个很低的）价格，目的是促销，结果它们确实热销。”这和manhattan的例句如出一辙，“我们的车被设计（成这样），目的是引起别人羡慕，结果它们确实做到了。”

补充一下sell在longman上的解释.

sell作不及物动词的时候, 意思是be bought. Longman的例句是:
Tickets for the concert just aren’t selling.
Anti-age creams always sell well.

这个是常用用法, 所以老美一看就知道, 这里的they是指wines.

如果they指代人的话, 那么sell必须为及物动词, 后面得跟上宾语. 而这里没有宾语, 所以是非及物的用法.
