Please don't scare people. Although H1B holders who are laid off have no official graceful period, usually you can stay for 1-2 months to look for a new job without transfering your status. In addition, there are many ways to change your status. If you are married and your spouse is in legal status (F1, H1, J1), you can simply transfer to F2 or H4 spouse visa. Many people also register in language schools or community colleges to regain an F1 visa before they get the next job. If your status is changed successfully, you can stay as long as you want and once you find a job you can switch back to H1B.

There Are quite a few people finally got to leave US in the end after several months of effortless job search, but definitely not the next day. Not in one week either.

That's real situation for international people. I agree. I wish all CDers share what they experienced instead of something heard; besides, I don't deny the fact that some people release  misleading information on purpose, but also thank LZ for sharing her friend's story

You can say it again. Frankly speaking, lucky people realize their American dreams, but not everyone. One credential, like an MBA diploma, does not guarantee you anything. Your overall competitiveness does. If your dream is so strong to ignore all the challenges you can possibly imagine, go get it. Some people make their American dreams come true, why not you? However, if you are not that convinced of your own luck or ability, you probably should drop out of the effort. Too many examples you can recite to attest to your intended conclusion. Either way, good luck!

If an 'MBA' cannot give you anything for sure, why so many people relentless pursue it?
